My daughter just got denied ED at Duke, her ACT is low, 28 but everything else is great. 4.31 gpa, lots of leadership, lots of AP classes, volunteers, half day internship at NIH doing lab research. Should she try Emory or just focus on Wake Forest with no test score requirement?
Emory won’t be much easier. Wake might be a good choice. Any safeties?
Why not retake the ACT?
She has. She just doesn’t do well on standardized tests. Umd is safety, we are in state but she really doesnt want to go there. Shes a match with villanova so shes applying there too. We are hoping Wake will except her. Thanks for answering me!!
I think she needs some other safeties. UMD may even be a slight reach, he test scores put her just above the 25%, sif she gets in it may be Freshman Connection (is she okay with that), also UMDCP admits by county so depending on where you live ie Montgomery or Howard admission may be harder. And most important she doesn’t waht to attend.
Has she considered St. Marys or any other in-state school. Is she applying to any other test optional schools? Maybe Allegheny or Beloit for safeties, lots of nice schools for matches/reaches.
Of course try Emory, but perhaps expand your search to other test optional schools. Since she seems to like schools in the South, she would be a match for Elon
