Does anyone know where I can find accurate data about medical school acceptance rates for Denison? I can’t seem to find this information. Thanks!
It’s highly unlikely you will find this info . @WayOutWestMom can describe the many ways this data can be manipulated and therefore is incomplete or inaccurate for many undergrad colleges.
And really…the reported med school acceptance rates will not guarantee your child will or won’t get accepted to medical school
Understood. I guess I am just wondering is they are a decent school to prepare for med school at. Versus a school like OSU or Case.
You can take the required courses for medical school applicants at Denison.
Does your student want to be at a HUGE university (tOSU), an urban university (CWRU), or a smaller college in a smaller town (Denison)
That is what we are still trying to figure out. She is all over the place. I hope we can narrow things down before she applies to schools next fall.
She has lots of time!!! Choose a variety of colleges. She really doesn’t need to decide which school until the end of April her senior year!
Her mind could change about a lot between now and then.
I would suggest taking medical school out of the equation. Her goal now is to find an undergrad school where she can se herself and do well for four years
Also keep in mind that more than 80% if incoming freshmen who say they are pre-meds, never even finish the pre-reqs. Some can’t make the cut academically, but most find other careers that they find more interesting or that require significantly less training than medicine (4 years of med school + 3-15 years of residency and fellowship before they’re ready to get their first job. Medicine is a very long haul.)
So make sure that any college your student chooses offer opportunities to pursue a Plan B career.
