I made a list awhile back of the med and dental schools that will accept online undergrads. I lost my list.
I know very few schools in the United States do. I’m wondering if anyone can recommend a school where this would not disqualify my chances.
I have a B.S. in Biology. I attended SNHU.
I don’t know of any list, and even if there is one, you would have to go to each website and verify the info. There are only 81 dental schools in the US, so fairly straightforward to visit their websites and build your list.
Okay. Going to call admissions of every single dental school in the country on Thursday. Will report back with a list. I’m actually interested myself.
The list is going along quite well. Just wanted to report back. I have 12 more dental schools to reach out to for a complete list.
I will add… all dental schools also consider transcripts on a case by case basis. Even if it isn’t a requirement, most dental schools also have between a 10-20% acceptance rate. Taking additional advanced courses in science and math at an in-personal traditional university after you graduate will probably be beneficial. Including, any science prereqs that were were not included in your degree. It also helps if you also have a B.S instead of a B.A which will work in your favor.
Reporting back in December. I believe this is seriously good information for those with online bachelors degrees that have the same concerns. I spoke to the dean of admissions and counselors at all dental schools in the United States. Surprisingly, lots of dental schools don’t have this information on their website. I think it’s becoming more common in the post COVID world compared to just a few years ago.
Green Light = Admissions openly supports online degrees, but some colleges made it clear that science classes with labs would be preferred or required in person. They recommended before applying, to take additional in-person courses.
Yellow Light = Admissions at the college made it clear that they give preference to in-person degrees before they will consider degrees from online schools during the acceptance process. In-Person degrees more likely to be accepted.
Red Light = Admissions made clear that online degrees will not be considered, with very few exceptions taken during the COVID19 pandemic when in-person classes were not a possibility. All classes must be taken in-person.
