Anyone else applying to the theater school?

Hello. My son applied EA to the BFA in film and was accepted. It is now his top choice so we are all really excited for him. Need to get back on campus to tour the Lincoln Park campus and make sure he is ready for city living.

Congrats! We are also strongly considering DePaul for BFA in Film. May I ask if your offer included any merit award? Ours did not and I am curious if that means my son didn’t qualify or if decisions would be released at a later date?

My son’s acceptance did include a merit award.

Our student’s DePaul acceptance letter also included merit award. It was something called a Presidential award and seemed quite generous.

Not every school includes merit with decision but DePaul does.

Thanks all. My son’s offer anctually did include merit - much more generous than expected. Apparently, I was just too excited to read past the first sentence!

Son just got accepted to college of business. Anyone has insight on what the Freshman campus vibe is like in Lincoln Park?

Son got into DePaul for music (jazz, tenor saxophone) in mid-March. The merit aid was announced a few weeks later so FYI for anyone whose kid is applying in the future. He got $25K/year, which makes the school within the range of what makes sense for our family and he really wants to live in Chicago so he will probably enroll there. The music school has a gorgeous fairly new building and seems to be improving in caliber. It’s also a rare opportunity to be in a pep (basketball) band without having to do marching (football) band

Seemed very good to us, in February, which is when the weather is pretty much at its worst. Lincoln Park is a great neighborhood. There’s a train station near the dorms that a biz major can take to the biz school buildings in the Loop campus.

I have a kid heading into DePaul in the fall in the University Honors Program, Strobel Accounting Honors, double major in marketing and accounting with a minor in Commercial Spanish. I don’t know if she’s going to end up with all of that going forward, but sheesh! They seem to be throwing options at her. She is also doing the Future Forward program which results in a $3K scholarship sophomore year if she completes it. My spreadsheet for her is complicated (I’m a nut with spreadsheets). Looking forward to DePaul!
