I am a Chicago parent with a daughter who wants to go to Indiana for their Education program and to just get away. She didn’t get much in the way of scholarships. Meanwhile, DePaul wants her and has given her $40,000 over 4 years towards a scholarship. I want her to go where she is fulfilled, but to also be prudent, since IU is so expensive. I went to DePaul and never regretted it. Any opinions on the matter?

$10k a year won’t do much to defray the cost of DePaul. Or do you mean that she has $40k/year guaranteed for four years?

If she wants to get away, didn’t she apply to in-state options like UIUC and Illinois State? ISU has a well-thought-of education program and should be much cheaper for an Illinois student than IU. Both schools have social life/campus similarities to IU as well.
