I checked her social media, not exactly a secretive type.
“The left-wing media is barely covering it.”
That’s a shocker. I wonder why that is.
I saw the professor interviewed on Fox News, & he looked very uncomfortable talking to the host…he seemed very disappointed that none of the networks he would usually rely on were interested in his situation.
I took a quick peek at Hinderaker’s social media as well and couldn’t determine how much money she had. I didn’t find any reference to Evangelical but you may have looked at something different. But she is actually supportive of the protestors on campus but doesn’t agree with every one of their objectives. She acknowledges the racism and wants to help find solutions.
But even if she were Evangelical, rich and blonde does that mean she should be mocked when she says that she feels she is not free to express her own views on campus without fear of intimidation? I feel like we are going down the path of advocating that a stereotypical person who might not have experienced discrimination in the past somehow now has less rights, or has no standing to complain when there own rights are being abridged.
That kind of thinking will only serve to divide us further.
FYI, Kathryn Hinderaker is the daughter of John Hinderaker, who is the founder of www.powerlineblog.com.
There’s no stigma in mocking white evangelicals on a left-wing campus. Doesn’t everyone know that?
Here is an article from yesterday that I think summarizes the ESC/Bret Weinstein controversy pretty well:

Hinderaker was also a partner at Faegre, a large Minneapolis law firm, for decades (I used to use his firm for some mass tort litigation out that a way) and if I am not mistaken a Harvard grad. He is well hated on the left because his blog came to prominence for debunking the Dan Rather “fake but accurate” memos. I have no idea about his, or his daughter’s, religous beliefs. Nor do I understand how in the world that could be relevant to the topic at hand or the alleged events at St Olaf’s. But if it makes some of you feel better, pretend she is Malia Obama, and then perhaps it will be easier to empathize.
Yes so the daughter of a retired attorney - commercial litigator. Most likely an UMC family.
That is one of the most bigoted and juvenile posts I have seen on this forum in some time. Shame on you and the people who liked your post.
If something shows up on Tucker Carlson’s show or Rachel Maddow’s show, you can bet it will be a one-sided presentation.
^what’s your point? Do you think that Racheal Maddow didn’t actually have a part of Trump’s tax return? There is a significant difference between saying I do not like the spin put on this story by Fox or NBC, and saying “I am free to ignore this real evidence of an actual event because Fox isn’t mean enough to Republicans.” Keeping with Trump’s tax return, it is the difference between the MSNBC crowd saying “wow, he made a lot of money - he is out of touch” and the Brietbart crowd saying “wow, he paid a much higher tax rate than either the Obamas or the Clintons.” The answer is not to put your fingers in your ears and just pretend the whole thing didn’t happen. Or are you contending that this was a put up job by a bunch of disguised right wingers to make progressive students look childish? You know, the Robert Reich argument after the first Berkley riots this year.

breaking news - the campus is shut down because of a “direct threat to campus safety”
I just watched video of the takeover - it is exceedingly cringeworthy, esp when they tell the president “put your hands down George”…
I think the students ordering the President of the college to keep his hands by his side really gets to the heart of the matter. This is all about power and undermining his authority. Apparently he was gesturing with his hands while he spoke and that was viewed as too authoritative and he was ordered to keep his hands by his side. He did not immediately comply, perhaps because of a formed habit, and a student got up and modeled to him how he was expected to stand while the rest of them laughed and jeered. I found this truly out of hand. Is the President of a college not supposed to have some authority on campus?
While I have to agree with other posters that George Bridge’s response to the whole protest was ineffectual and baffling these students were totally out of line. They should have been told to go jump in the lake.
If I were a student at this school, I would certainly object to being told I couldn’t come to campus for a day whether I was white or brown or green. If I paid my tuition I get to go to school.
Can you imagine the uproar if a group of white male students organized (ever!) and told any other group it was ‘their turn’ to be banned, that the white student wanted to see what the campus would look like if all the minorities were gone for the day? And take those women with you too!
It is still not clear to me what the offense is that the Evergreen State administration has committed to trigger all of this protesting. I haven’t seen any media coverage that seems to support the student view, but I did see several that demonized it.
I think that in many of these situations, reasonable people on both sides of the political spectrum are actually not as far apart as the media would like to portray it and probably agree on most of what does and does not make sense in response. When I actually sit down and talk with real people, I find that they tend to be more reasonable than it seems on television.
Evergreen State campus is closed “due to a violent threat against the college received by local law enforcement.”

The news generally wants sensational stories. If people talk reasonably, it is not an interesting enough story for many viewers. So (in politics and some other areas) the news wants to find something outrageous to talk/write about.
Partisan news commonly latches on to the most outrageous comments or actions from the other side to paint it as representative of the other side. E.g. if you spend too much time with left / right leaning partisan news, you may end up believing and fearing that violent people in black masks / white hoods are out to get you.
I think part of the problem is the professor who appeared smugly on fox. Remember fox is the station that unfairly spread misinformation about a deceased DNC staffer and greatly hurt a grieving family. This biology professor has essentially come out against hiring minorities into faculty positions. It is so sad that in this day and age things are becoming worse. Violence is becoming accepted. Hatred is becoming worse on both sides. We all need to “give peace a chance”
