Describe your APAH Teacher

This is all I know about my Art History teacher.

(Background: My friends who took her class all hate her. They tell me entertaining stories about her. I’ve seen her before in the hallways. Today I switched into her class.)

Let’s see.

She has a short, bleached-blond, spiky haircut.
She is slightly overweight. Ok, maybe more than “slightly.”
She is very artsy, with paint stains all over her clothes/apron.
She wears dangly, creative-looking earrings that are probably homemade.
She is in charge of my school’s National Art Honor Society.
She often holes up in her “office” instead of teaching the class.
And she has a pet parakeet that she keeps on her shoulder at all times.

What’s your APAH teacher like?

My teacher’s awesome! He’s extremely short (and not fat) but hilarious and happy. He’s extremely knowledgeable, yet in his early thirties (I think). Much more “Art History Major” than “Painting Major” (or other studio art major), but he loves the class. Very structured in everything he does, but easy to talk to. We listen to his lecture almost every day and take notes – he goes over the chapters in Gardner’s Art that we would otherwise spend much more time at home with – and gives extra details on all the works, which is helpful. He also lets us use our notes on tests, though I don’t feel that deprives us of learning! :)

That’s cool!
I actually like my teacher. I’ve gotten used to her various idiosyncrasies and discovered that she’s not bad at covering material (when she teaches).

I don’t think I could ask for a better teacher! He’s really passionate about what he teaches and it sort of rubs off on the entire class.
Besides art history, he teaches Philosophy, Humanities and Art I. He has his own art gallery (mostly watercolors) and has sold paintings for thousands of dollars. He also plays guitar in a band, studies Greek and Latin, and reads ALL THE TIME. I guess he’s sort of a Renaissance man in his own right.
