Cheese crackers with peanut butter, almonds, pretzels.
No food in my desk either, but I’m only in the office a couple of times a month. If food were there, I’d eat it all, so no snacks = no temptation.
My problem is I work from home and we have a pantry and a refrigerator…
Raw almonds, package of microwave popcorn, butterscotch hard candy. And a box of emergency raisins in my purse (just in case I need a snack, I take them everywhere).
No more office :-). But I have stocked in my car some turkey jerky, Quest Bars and Picky Bars. When I leave my house, if I anticipate I’ll be gone the whole day I will prepack food to bring. I’m running errands right now and have an apple and blueberries with me.
Pistachios, Almonds, or a Banana.
These would be gone in a hearbeat in my office!! I have miniature york peppermint patties, welch’s fruit snacks, and biscotti.
a box of 40 Toast-Chee peanut butter cracker packs from Sam’s Club … well, it might be down to 34 or so.
I bring my breakfast and lunch to work already - so I’m not usually tempted to snack. A blessing that I can leave those kisses w/almonds for “emergencies”!
I have a container of oatmeal. Anything else would be eaten throughout the day and gone within hours.
I stock dh’s office supplies: Campbell’s Slow Kettle soups, Kind bars, Laughing Cow & Babybel cheeses, Jif to Go peanut butter, crackers and roasted almonds. He has T2D and used to skip breakfast/lunch then fill up on high carb snacks, so this helps keep his blood sugar in check.
Someone here recommended the Kind bars - sorry I don’t recall who it was because I owe her/him a big thank you!
Rice Krispie Treats. I keep them in my desk at all times. I just ran out today…and need to get more before Tuesday!
Lipton Chicken Noodle Cup-a-Soup (usually to warm me up when my office gets cold) and my new favorite, Honey Crisp Apples - but you may need a 2nd mortgage to buy them, they are really pricey, but worth it for now.
I think I might have some TicTacs, but I work at home so if I am hungry I can go eat from the kitchen.
Nothing. My packed lunch goes in my minifridge each day. There are rats around the very old building where I work. Every room has an entrance to the outdoors and occasionally rats have managed to get into places where people have had food in their rooms. I don’t want any rat roommates. Yikes.
I definitely don’t keep snacks around at work. I would eat them all immediately. I don’t keep a lot of snack food at home either (other than fruit). People are always surprised by how much I eat at meals because I’m starving by the time mealtime comes around. So I’m one of those people OP is talking about --people who are always hungry! I’m not trying to hint that I want your food, though!
I keep meaning to bring in tea bags though because Starbucks charges $2.75 for a cup of hot tea, which I like at around 3 pm. And they always run out of the kind I like.
Sugarless gum and lots of it. I’m on a diet, and it helps to keep me from indulging in other things just to have something in my mouth.
I’m getting weird looks from my colleagues because I chew gum all day. And my jaw hurts. But you do what you have to do.
Poor @nottelling. You should come work at my office. The tea is free. I drink it in between sticks of gum.
Hah, a bag of almonds, 2 cans of tuna, a bag of wasabi peas, two clementines, 3 packs of Emergen-C and a protein bar are in my desk drawer stash. Chocolate would never last long enough…Peanut M&Ms are my addiction and they would be gone no matter how many I brought before I left work for the day so just don’t bring them.
I left a job with lots of perks about a year ago for more of a do-gooder job at a fraction of the pay and now I have to pay for my own tea.
But I do feel like I’m doing some good!
So, part two of this thread…what does your work place provide in terms of snacks/drinks/food on an ongoing basis??
My D1 works for a PR firm - they have a kitchen loaded with snacks and drinks on each floor of the building. A coffee break area with Keurig’s and those large coffee pumper thingys full of various flavored drinks. Sounds like people enjoy these perks but don’t take over advantage of them.
^^That is amazing to me! My employer will buy boxes of plastic utensils for us to have around. That’s it! Used to buy some Keurig cups for our shared Keurig machinge (actually belongs to another department. I really don’t mind that they don’t provide anything. No big deal for me to keep a bag of coffee, a reusable K-cup and my own creamer on hand in the refrig.
I’m a public school employee. Our employer provides us with nothing to eat. We do have a fridge and a microwave.
Staff pitched in and bought a Keurig.
