Desperate, have taken 3 times and still need to improve 80-100 points!

<p>Hello collegeconfidential members, I am looking for a good study plan.</p>

<p>This is not the first time I have been on here, nor is this the first time I have asked questions on the best methods to study.</p>

<p>I have taken the SAT 3 times, and my best scores were on the last test. Consider this as superscored. </p>

<p>CR: 620
M: 590
W: 630
E: 10</p>

<p>For state scholarship purposes, I would like to raise my CR and M scores to at least a 1290 or 1300. Although it is not much of a difference, I feel as though I am at an impasse. I used the khan academy, completed the blue book, and did most of Greubers math. I studied flashcard after flashcard. I have also reviewed Silverturtle’s Guide. I have done most of what CC’ers do to pass the SAT with at least a 2000, but cannot seem to find a way to beat the early 600s. Do you guys have any tips to help me out?</p>

<p>Do you mean to raise your CR and M score to a total of 1290-1300? Meaning you want to raise your individual scores by at least 50-75 points?</p>

<p>The SAT is not the only game in town. Have you thought about trying the ACT? Most colleges accept both.</p>

<p>If you think you want to try the next ACT which is on February 11th you must register by January 13th to avoid late fees. The ACT website also has free practice questions. Most high school guidance offices have a free complete sample test.</p>

<p>Another vote for the ACT. Maybe you can also work with a coach to see what you’re struggling with as well. You obviously write well, so I don’t think improving your score is out of your reach.</p>

<p>Josh05, it took maybe 10-15 hours total of typing, editing, and revising to do the guide. I had an extra Q&A section that was going to be included, but I decided to exclude it to keep the length down (also, it turned into a section of mostly just my opinions). Anyways, I hope you and other people find it helpful.</p>

<p>For the questions on the ACT: yes I have taken it. I took it twice and got a 26 both times. My scores did not change AT ALL. But for the state scholarship I need a 28.</p>

<p>Josh05: Yes, I’d like to raise at least 50-75 points on CR and M. I studied mostly by reading Gruebers and learning the concepts and then applying them to the blue book. I have taken every test and from 6-10 I got a similar score every time. I barely got out of the 600s.
When I take the tests, I don’t necessarily time myself on the math. I prefer to learn the concepts rather than get it wrong because of a lack of time. Even with the lack of time limit, I get around the 560-610. Then afterwards, I go to watch the Khan academy videos to see how to solve the question in a quicker manner.</p>

<p>My focus was mostly math, I’d rarely do critical reading techniques other than taking the tests and learning a few words. I studied around 150 flashcards from a list online of the words in direct hits. I learned many of these words previously so those were the ones from the book that I hadn’t known. I also completely ignored writing. I did not try to learn anything new for writing. Ironically, it is my highest score. </p>

<p>This is going to be my fourth try and overall, I am very discouraged. I am hoping to find a new method. </p>
