Desperation

So, now that I’ve fully taken 3 practice tests:

REAL (April 09) - Eng: 22 Math: 28 Reading: 17 Science: 24 COMP: 23
Prac 1 - Eng: 25 Math: 29 Reading: 21 Science: 28 COMP: 26
Prac 2 - Eng: 22 Math: 30 Reading: 20 Science: 32 COMP: 26

If it’s not self explanatory, I can’t *#$%&#$%ing read.

I’m going to try on my 3rd practice test (just to see) if I should go directly to questions and then skim. I’m going to see if that works. What harm?

The Math I studied for… Science I think I’m getting used to. I went in to the real one with no studying and was sort’ve baffled when I saw it. But, Math & Science I’m not really surprised with the increase I’ve worked hard.

MY QUESTION:
Within 10 days, what is the best advice you can give to help me improve to at least 25’s on reading and english, because, my science and math are obviously fine, and it’s going to suck if I end up with such unbalanced scores.

Read grammar rules on sparknotes. Helps a bit. Like 25-27 level.

Reading is not a short time improvement.

Idk if this will work for you, but on the reading section of the April '09 ACT I spent most of my time on the last two sections (I worked backwards) and aced them (almost perfect score for humanities/science). I kind of BSed the other two sections by skimming each for like 1 minute and then trying to answer the questions as fast as possible in order to finish. I got a 25.
Also when random guessing, pick two letters, one from each of the answer groups, and circle in the corresponding bubble for each guess (as opposed to literally circling in random bubbles). This will increase your chance of guessing correctly.

As for english, use the Barron’s ACT bookif you have it for review. It extensively goes through grammar and punctuation rules. It’s very helpful. I get 33/34 on the english section now, after I went over it again.

I still have two more practice reading tests to do (Real tests)

So I’m hoping somehow I’ll improve. I’m going to study with an English teacher Monday (5 days before test) and we’re going through 2 full practice tests and she’s going to explain what I did wrong. Does this sound like a good idea? She’s not a grammar expert, but, she knows her stuff.

Reading is just beyond my ability. Will colleges look down greatly if like I get a 26-27 composite but a 22-23 reading?
