Desregarding everything else

what do you think would be a low, average, and safe score (minimum) for a residential female to get into the school of Engineering?

(given everything else on the transcript looks good)

Wow… can’t believe I spelled disregarding wrong.

come on peoples!

You said safe and the put minimum in parenthesis, which is it? Safe means you are in the 75th percentile, whereas minimum would be 25th percentile.

Just aim for a 2100+ and 800’s on Math/Science SATIIs.

when i said minimum i meant the minimum safe score. Like if someone would say, oh a 2350 is definitely safe, while a 2200 would also be safe.

2100 is “safe” minimum.

someone told me engineering should be around 2250 to be safe? Is this true or is the 2100 what I should be aiming for? (First SAT was a 1860… I just took it again today and am hoping for a 2000+… taking it one more time for a 2100-2200… i honestly can’t see myself getting over 2200)

Just do your best. What’s the purpose of asking for this kind of inherently inaccurate data and setting it as your “goal”? There is no such thing as a “safe” minimum; you hear about people with 2250+ scores and good GPA’s getting denied all the time, and vice versa. Your goal should be to get the best score you can get, so aim for that. If you take the test 3 times and get around 2100 each time, and have done all you can and don’t see yourself improving, then that’s your best.

Now obviously the higher your score is, the higher your probability of admittance, but all the same, there is no such thing as a safe lower bound.

I’d aim strongly for 2200+ and likely 2250+, based on the successes I’ve witnessed. Aim for 750+ SAT IIs.

I’m pretty sure a sort of recipe for someone with rather good chances, but not perfect stats might look like:

–2230 SAT I, 760 SAT II Chem, 800 Math II, 770 SAT II Physics,

–Some form of an A in courses including four years of science (including some AP science hopefully), Calculus BC, and a good amount of high school coursework.

–A relatively good statement on why they want to study engineering.

–Maybe a bonus internship or something, but not required.

On the SAT I, if you get 2100-2200 with a good math score, that might be nice too. And you can always make up for one weakness with other especially good strengths. Just be sure there’s some parts of the application that’re very strong.
