Determining Factors for Selecting a Transfer School?

I was looking at Syracuse University and City University of New York: City College as potential schools to transfer to for architecture.

What should be the most important factors in deciding what school to go to?

I’ve been thinking:

 1. mostly on the financial part, City College is more “manageable” when it comes to total cost while SU is WAY over my budget.

about the name, SU being “more known” then City College.

about the requirements for entering the schools. City College does not have any prerequisites while SU needs a portfolio (and I haven’t taken architecture or art classes to have an acceptable portfolio although and I can take a few art classes but I won’t make the deadline and I would like to start ASAP).

Overall, what should be the determining factors for selecting a school?
Would any school that appears on the National Architecture Accreditation Board be acceptable?

Any help would be fantastic and appreciated.

Thanks.

Besides the obvious (finding one that you can actually get into), I’d say look for one that:

(1) you can handle financially (which means it may need to be close to your current home)
(2) have the particular major you are most interested in (that offers courses in the concentration you hope to work in upon graduation), and
(3) at least consider that one closer to where you plan to live long-term may make it easier to find a job than one located 1,500 miles or more away; --and lastly, if weather is a factor for you, then
(4) find one that has weather that won’t drive you crazy

As a native of Syracuse, NY for 22 years, number 4 is extremely important to consider. :-p
