I know there aren’t a lot of parents into computer gaming, but is anyone else excited about the release of Deus Ex: Human Revolution? My son and I are huge fans of the original Deus Ex and are totally psyched about the new one, although we’re going to wait for the price to come down a bit before we buy it.

Just don’t get it at gamestop. They’ve been opening the new game packages and taking the vouchers out of them and then selling them as new.

I’m more of a consel gamer rather then a pc one :)

Ooh, we PC gamers have some nasty names for console gamers. :D

I buy most of my games online through Steam. They have some great older games for $5 or $10, which keep me occupied so that I spend less money on new hardware to run the latest games. I tend to go more for a good story than top-notch graphics, so I’m usually just as happy with an older, cheaper game as with a new one. But for Human Revolution, I think it just might be worth upgrading my system.

lol i grew up a pc gamer with Doom and duke nukem (the original).
I even remember adding more memory into the old windows '95 comp of mine so we could play Myst.

I’ve never used steam before. But i’m the same way with games, i’ll wait a while before buying (ie; major price drop) because of the high sticker price. But if the game is attractive enough… i’ll splerge.

The last time I splurged on a brand-new game was Assassin’s Creed, and my system couldn’t run it worth a darn. That’s when I decided that there are lots of older, cheaper games I should play first.

Steam is really cool. Not every game is available, but most of the good ones are, and they have really good sales. I got Bioshock for about $10 within six months of its release, for example. I also like the file management system; Steam downloads everything in the background while you go about your business, and there’s no storing a bunch of disks, etc. Also, it’s portable; anywhere you can log into Steam and download the files, you can play any game you’ve ever purchased.

I like consoles for the ability to get Netflix easily on the television, though. It’s so much of a pain to hook my computer up to my television that I usually just watch movies on my monitor instead.
