DHC/ISHP/STEP/EOP -- Confused!

do you think that DHC helped your daughter with the transition to college? my son says he’s going to apply… i guess i just worry a little bit about whether (if accepted) he’d be overwhelmed his freshman year…

i probably just need to stop worrying.

The main benefits of the DHC program are supposed to be the ability to work with like minded peers who desire something beyond academics. They are supposed to model the most motivated and active members of the UC Davis community, dedicated to furthering their knowledge to help their community.

And I’m not saying the course load is too much. I’m saying for the first 2 years worth of classes (which will comprise of at least 2 “Honors Seminars” and 2 “Honors Sections”) aren’t useful nor helpful any student. On top of that, I was personally disappointed when I found out that most, if not all of the DHC students I interacted with were only in the program for the priority registration perk, and nothing else.

The program did have other perks, including 500 pages of free printing at Kerr Hall (I think it’s either down to 100 or removed completely) and the ability to check out library books for an entire quarter (instead of the regular 2 weeks). The most important “perk” should really be the close interaction the student will get with the teacher.

About how many students/what percentage are in the DHC? Thanks!!

anything about DHC???

As the OP, I think I’ll say that I will probably not be applying to DHC, since I get most/all the perks with ISHP already.
