Last night, D had a heart to heart with me, asking me to figure out how to dial down the competition with my sibblings. They are a VERY competitive bunch and she really wants us to get along and be closer. We have pretty different personalities and there are simmering resentments and some mild personality clashes. It was sweet of D and I will consciously try to do it, as it is a good thing for all of us.

Good for your D! And good for you, taking her comments in the spirit intended!

In my family, sometimes the younger people are the smarter people. ;)

It takes a significant effort NOT to get back into competitive mode with sibs, as that was so common when we were growing up. It is easier to be more objective when you’re not IN the situation and can view it from the outside. D has always been amazing at analyzing people and situations.

I know I’m lucky to have sibs and feel very fortunate for it. D and S just have each other, but they are pretty close much of the time, even when thousands of miles apart.
