Diamond will NOT be teaching IB 131 this fall...

... but Carlson will.
<a href="http://ib.berkeley.edu/student/grad/forms/GSIproj.xls%5B/url%5D">http://ib.berkeley.edu/student/grad/forms/GSIproj.xls</a></p>

GSI projections list Carlson as the teacher instead of Diamond. There is no grade data on IB 131 with Carlson on Courserank. I know for a fact that he has taught this class in the past.

uh.. hmm. -.-

is this class still gonna be an easy A?

Carlson isn't that hard of a grader, but it won't be like before where 90%/+ get free As. You will probably have to give this class its due time.

I took IB 117 with Carlson. ~50% of the class got A's but the course was pure memorization, so I ended up with a B. If you are good at memorizing a reader, Carlson is your man. This class was/is my alternate if IB 181 doesn't fit my schedule next semester.

ugh.. i regret taking ib 117.. that class was all memorization, and kind of a pain to study for, and totally not worth getting below an A in that class. Honestly, I don't know what all the positive reviews were for, the lecturing style was really dry and too dependent on readers.

I found the lectures interesting, except I am not a memorization learner (thus my B). Most of my other IB courses are conceptual, as opposed to all memorization.

so whats the verdict, will it be an easy A or...?

easy A if you can memorize efficiently

Do people usually take IB 131 lecture even if they can't get into the lab? What do you suggest? Should I wait?

anyone have anything on 131A?

any exams? will you get credit if you take 131/L after 131A? what do you do in it?
