Did ALL EA applicants receive this mail? specially internationals?

QUOTE

Dear (my name),

Thank you for applying to The University of Chicago during our Early Action cycle. According to our records, you have not applied for need-based financial aid. As an international student, if you do not apply for financial aid before the time that your admissions decision is finalized, you will not be eligible for any subsequent financial aid if you are admitted. We recommend that students not rely on merit-based aid if they do not have the fund to afford the entire four years of schooling; if you have indicated that you wish to be considered for merit aid but do not have the finances for four years of study, we recommend that you submit the ISFAA and the UChicago Financial Aid form as soon as possible. Please contact internationaladmissions@uchicago.edu if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

UNQUOTE

The title is self-explanatory. anyone?

I applied EA but I didn’t get this. I’m not international though…

Yeah, I’m international and got the exact same email.

Domestic students who do not initially apply for aid but find that they need aid sometime during attendance are always able to apply. However, international students are not able to apply for financial aid if they do not do so in their original application, as financial need is considered during the admissions process for international students (although international students who apply for aid can still be admitted to UChicago). So, this letter just serves as a reminder of this policy, to make sure that nobody feels left out or unaware that this is the way things are for international students. You don’t need to submit any documents if you never intended to apply for financial aid in the first place.

did the people who get the email indicate that they were planning on applying for merit-based aid - or any type of aid at all? I’m international but I didn’t get an email… is this any indication at all to our decision status?

I don’t think it means anything apart from what it says.

Have you applied for Need based aid?
