Did Anyone Else Enter School Knowing They Would Transfer?

Had a 3.1 GPA in HS, 1930 SAT. Enrolled at Muhlenberg College (great school), but always knew I wanted to end up somewhere else. I actually made a Common App the summer before I enrolled. Worked hard, got a 3.65 first semester, joined clubs, got to know a professor who wrote a great rec. Enrolled at Case this past fall, and I must say it was a great decision. So, my question is, did anyone else enroll somewhere almost KNOWING they wouldn’t stay there?

Lots of students enroll at community colleges intending to transfer to four year schools to complete their bachelor’s degrees.

@ucbalumnus I meant enrolling at a 4 year school… but touché, haha.

There are plenty of students who do,similar to,what you have done. In fact, I know at least two students who will transfer (or say they will) to Cornell after a year of good grades at another college, and it is with Cornell’s blessing. It happens.

I purposely attended a cc over a four year with the intention of transferring to a top institution. It’s easier to explain why you are transferring out of a cc than a four year.

@Arsenalfan245 where do you plan on transferring to?

I’m already accepted at UofM for fall 2017, but I’m applying to Brandeis and Emory for winter 2017.

For students enrolling at four year schools with intention to transfer:

In Pennsylvania, there are probably significant numbers of students enrolling at Penn State branch campuses with intention to transfer to Penn State University Park. The branch campuses offer some bachelor’s degrees, but, for many students, they function similarly to community colleges in other states as transfer-preparation schools (but more expensive than community colleges).

In Texas, students denied admission to UT Austin may be offered CAP, where one starts at another UT campus and transfers to Austin later: https://admissions.utexas.edu/enroll/cap
