Did everyone who recieved a get your kilt on booklet get accepted?

^^ just wondering if there was a correlation :]

Peeked under the kilt and was accepted!

Definitely not. This doesn’t apply to me personally (I was accepted), but there were a few people who posted that they received the booklet and were denied admission.

Also, just to let you know – some people, like me, received the booklet way back last fall, so I don’t think it has any correlation with admission.

I agree. I received the “get your kilt on” booklet shortly after I visited in the summer before my senior year. I don’t believe it has anything to do with acceptance. I think they may just send it to most prospective students.

I got the booklet…ended up getting waitlisted for SCS. :(

I was sure I’d get in (near perfect match with cherries on top) and got rejected 5 times (from multiple schools within). Everyone I knew was shocked; me, I was rather saddened (especially due to the fact that I’ve been rejected from everywhere except the one school I don’t want to go to).

I received this package not too long ago, along with multiple other promo materials. I’ll assume that it truly does not matter the outcome, all applicants who pay the $70 receive things.

I have no idea what you guys are talking about, but I got accepted anyway ;)

invgamma, I feel the same way as you do :(

Unfortunately, I have a feeling I know the mistake I made. By applying to so many of the schools, I did not appear to be a “serious” candidate. I honestly did not know we were were allowed to apply to more than one school and so ranked 4 of them in order of preference because I thought that was all they were asking… Then, I only discussed the one I really wanted to apply to (MCS) in my essay.

I guess it was a mistake on my part :frowning: Although as I look at everyone’s stats who were admitted and see that mine are just as good (or better), I am still extremely saddened by this.

Congrats though do all you guys! I hope you have an awesome time at CMU :)

Oh p.s. I did not receive a “get your kilt on” booklet…but then again, i didn’t get a fat letter either, so…

I didn’t get one of these booklets, but was accepted. (:

I got the book and was “Not Admitted” Sigh

Well, I figured I’d probably have to transfer in if I was to go at all anyway.

The number of schools you apply to should have no reflection on your admission. I think that if you write a convincing essay about why you want to attend CMU, then you are more likely to be accepted, and that has nothing to do with whether you apply to 4 or a dozen schools (me). Of course, the amount of time spent on each essay would probably be less, and that would explain them perceiving you as less “serious” about the school, but that is an indirect result of applying to too many colleges and spreading resources too thin, not a result of them thinking “Oh gee, (s)he applied to 12 other schools. (s)he must not care very much about CMU”.
