Thanks for the Comments!

I would aim for a variety of schools…include the Ivies-Columbia and Brown have excellent arts program in addition to some other schools like Duke and small liberal arts programs. Look at safety schools as well…maybe some UC’s.

Bump…

A 1960 SAT does not put you at the top of the URM pile at the Ivies. You may get a Questbridge offer, you may not. I hope you have applied to some reasonable match and safety schools.

your standardized test scores are what are killing you…

You have a fair shot in my opinion. If I were an adcom (I wish :D) I would see that you are a solid candidate (good APs, great rank and GPA, decent SAT IIs etc) so I would see that you can easily handle college work. Your only drawback as I see, is your ACT and SAT I. Your URM, diverse ethnic background status and Financial situation will aid you I bet, and if not Yale, I can say with a fair deal of certainty that you will make it into some other top-notch place. good luck :)

It’s the SAT/ACT that is killing you…it’s almost weird that you have perfect stats, but not a high test score…

My SAT/ACT scores do not reflect my true potential. I was hoping adcoms would look beyond my SAT’s and see my true potential…but I guess their number oriented, right?

Yale is not numbers-oriented to the extent that good scores will get you in. Rather, good scores is another check-in-the-box that will give many other applicants an edge over someone with lower scores.

What school do you go to? They might just let you in because of your ethnic background and you go to school in Oakland.

Something is weird here…

Overall, I just wanted to know if Yale adcoms could uncover my potential in my essays and look at my entire application and recognize my strengths as opposed to my main pitfall…Standardized Testing…judging by the scant resume above, do I have the potential to compete at an Ivy League?

I think you have a chance, but I’m thinking it’s because you’re a URM.

you’ll never know unless you apply. so apply!

You’re right…something is weird here…Eureka I found it!
It’s my ethnicity. :)

I applied to Brown, Princeton, Stanford, Berkeley (and a few other UC’s) does anyone know if my stats look good for these schools…plus should I considering taking the SAT for a 4th time in order to boost my scores?

I think you definitely have a shot at Berkeley. Brown is really hard to get into, but you have a chance there, too. Try Dartmouth and Columbia, too, you have a great shot at those.

No idea about HYPS though, those schools never make sense in their admissions.
