Did I get rejected because of this?

Seriously, like the other poster said, it’s their loss. :stuck_out_tongue: From being your classmate in English, I know you’ll be a great asset to any top school! It’s really true that you’re one of the most active discussants I know (and not just throwing in humdrum comments, but actual insights!)…as well as one of the most creative people at our school. That comic is brilliant (almost as awesome as the cow…mmm…now THAT was true greatness), and I can’t imagine anyone NOT loving it.

Great comic!!!

I’ve decided to go to Wellesley College in Boston. It’s far away from home, but that’s what also makes it very appealing. East Coast, here I come!

Good luck to all those who are planning on attending Pomona or any other school!

Congratulations, catsushi.
I know that you had Whitman and Scripps as other options, what was the tipping point for you in favor of Wellesley?

Well I recently visited Wellesley’s Spring Open Campus, and I made my decision after that. I sat in on two classes, Psych and Art History, and really liked them. All the profs I talked to were helpful, encouraging, and enthusiastic.

But the main tipping point, I think, was academics related. Wellesley has a strong Russian program, which I am interested in taking. Wellesley also offers Japanese, which I would also like to perhaps major in. Whitman does not offer Russian and only offers Japanese as a minor. Wellesley’s alumni network is set up similar to some kind of mafia, and there are plenty of internships and job opportunities offered through the network. Location played a role, too. Boston seems like a thriving city with lots of opportunities, and I liked the idea of going across the country and starting something new. :)

When it came down to it, I felt that, for me, it was:

Whitman < Scripps < Wellesley

So to summarize, I felt that Wellesley had more opportunities for me.

Thanks for the response. Good luck at Wellesley; keep us updated on how everything goes :)

thats kind of ironic catsushi because i just transferred from wellesley college to pomona college…

Why?

On the other hand, my friend was accepted to Pomona but ended up going to Wellesley College, and she really loves it. I guess it really depends on the person, but I think I shall like it anywhere I go. :]

ya very true it does depend on the person. i guess i didnt enjoy the the all women environment, the weather (i’m from california) and the social life was not stimulating enough for me. but wellesley is a great college and i LOVED my professors there. they are all so helpful and approachable i really enjoyed taking classes. i’m sure you will enjoy wellesley. one piece of advice that i offer is go out to boston, cambridge or anywhere off campus as much as you can. wellesley can be isolating at times so it helps to get off campus. best of luck next year and i’m sure you’ll have a great time there.

Thanks! I’m from the West coast, too, but I live in a pretty cold area so I think I’ll be fine. And I’m definitely going to try to get off campus as much as I can, hopefully being on the swim team should help me with that.

i don’t think I posted on here yet. but catsushi, I was with you all the way from the start of the admissions process… as in saw your posts about getting into pomona. I was wl’d but choose case western instead. so good luck to you.

^^One of my best friends is going to Case Western! She is so excited. Congrats. :)

Aww, catsushi, I loved the comic!!! (Don’t ask how I found this; I end up on the randomest old threads. >__>) I’m sure you’ll love Wellesley, and the school is lucky (any school would be!) to have you. XD

That is one great comic! Congrats on Wellesley, one of my friends is going there as well.

Ugh I can’t believe it took me so long to sit down and figure out how to get rid of my name on the cover when it was so easy to do.
