Did I just mess up all of my chances?

Things you should know before reading this thread:

CPA in my school, is the hybrid of a “standard” class, and an Honors class.

Alright then, here we go:

I’m currently a sophomore, and a bit depressed, considering I believe myself to have messed up all chances I could have had getting into Stanford.

Reason being, I’m taking no Honors classes this year. All CPA.

Algebra 2 CPA
Geometry CPA (Doubling up, plan to take AP Stats and Pre Calc next year, and AP Calc as a senior)
Latin I (Took Arabic last year, decided to change)
Chemistry CPA (Plan to do Physics next year)
English II CPA
American History CPA
Computer Science (Teacher is putting me in AP next year, despite the fact that I don’t meet the pre-requisites)

So I’m sure Stanford gets a bunch of applicants with AP and Honors classes as a sophomore, so I’m afraid I’m nothing more then an automatic reject.

I DEFINITELY plan to take all Honors and a couple AP’s next year, and senior year.

I reside in NJ.

What do you guys think? All hope lost?

no, but the ball’s in your court right now. make the last two years count more and then you might have a shot

Realistically, you would need to get As and A+s in 5-6 ap courses next year to have a chance. you have a chance. dont mess it up.

New Jersey. Too bad

Well that’s good to know.

Next year I plan to stack up on any AP courses I’m eligible for.

So far I got A’s and B+'s, but nothing I can’t raise up to an A.

Thanks for the words of encouragement.

As for the guy that said something about New Jersey… that statement wouldn’t make sense if Jersey Shore wasn’t around now, would it?

Damn you MTV.

Remember that grades aren’t the only thing they’re looking at. Top-tier schools tend to look at class rigor (which obviously you’re not shy of this year) and an overall trend in your grades. If they see that you load up on hard classes next year and still manage to excel, then there is no problem with your classes this year. Also, keep in mind that you still want to be able to take challenging courses your senior year so it doesn’t convey the message that you’ve slacked off.

** Try and do really well on the SAT/ACT/Subject tests, these are also important, and GET INVOLVED.

Stanford has no mercy.
