I made a past thread, but I officially made a decision. My options really narrowed down to UCLA without any perks and UC Davis with Regents and Honors. Because I want to go to medical school, I felt like the slightly lesser competition, priority registration, and better likelihood of getting researching opportunities at Davis would provide me with the better tools to get me into medical school. However, UCLA really has been my dream school and part me of is really sad I had to turn it down because I simply fell in love with the campus and the environment. I liked Davis too, but UCLA really just resonated with me. However, even through that I decided Davis would be the smarter idea. However, does anybody think I made the wrong decision and that I should change my SIR?
Do not second guess your decision and it is your decision only since you are the one that will be attending school for the next 4 years. There is no wrong decision as long as you are happy.
My favorite quote: “Hindsight is Foresight without a future”. Best of luck.
If you were not comfortable with the competition and other (presumed) adverse conditions in UCLA (even if they we’re not real) then you did the right decision, as those conditions were “real for you” and would have stayed with you.
UCLA is a great school. Davis is a great school. It is important to go where you think you will be the most successful. It sounds like from your initial analysis you concluded that Davis is best for you. There is no way to predict the future and know whether your decision will bear fruit. However, it is a sound and reasonable decision. So I also would not second guess it. However, if you change your mind, so be it.
I think you made a fine decision. Enjoy your time at Davis. It is a great school.
