In my Common App essay, I shortly equate writing to music and said that a “middle C” note is dense and deep. I asked a teacher if this is right and he said it doesn’t really matter… !!! Careless me, I didn’t check, and as it turns out, a “middle C” note is not that deep, certainly not bellowing. Will this do me in?

Unless a you are applying for music major, in which case it probably would only be frowned upon, I doubt it. Middle C isn’t too deep, but I guess the definition could be stretched. It’s certainly not very high either. I suppose that’s why they call it middle C, haha.
But anyway, you say it was only a short comparison. Chances are whoever is going to read it won’t catch it or even know what middle C is.

Best of luck! :)
