Did I Screw Myself Over!!!???

I really want to go to Georgetown University. However, I feel that I diminished my chances with my dismal ACT score. What are my chances?

GPA
3.96 U.W
4.82 W

The Only B I received was in a gifted Biotechnology class. The teacher did not give anyone an A in the class. Unfortunately, this caused some problems with the weighting. If the school board decides to count it as an A, my U.W will be a 4.0 and my weighted a 5.0

Rank
4-5/250

ACT
29 (I know, this is a terrible first time score I am deff retaking)

I would like to receive my B.S in Political Science.

I know this is a very rough resume, but based on these credentials, do I have a decent shot? I live in Virginia, by the way, at a very competitive high school. (Although very small, sends students to UVA, USAFA, MIT, W & M, JHU, Harvard)

yeah you’re screwed

Study really hard and hire a tutor to increase your score because only the admissions counselors who will be reviewing you and comparing you to other applicants could give you an honest answer. Besides, if this was your first time taking it, you were probably nervous and the second time around you will be better.

Another possibility would be to take the SATs because maybe you would have a better shot at scoring better with the SATs and SAT IIs than the ACT.

Definitely try the SAT, it’s more of an IQ test where the ACT is more of a test of knowing the subject.

You’ll be fine. After all, the ACT is forgiving in that it is easy to retake. You will do fine with a little studying. Also, if you are a pretty self-motivated person, a ACT-prep book might be cheaper and just as effective.
