Did this on the pretest on collegeboard, got a 10. What do you guys think?

When people do things in their own way, they are bound to accomplish more. Examples of success when doing things in one’s own way can be portrayed by history, literature, and our modern world. Take note of Commander Xin Zhao, who was faced with a difficult task; he was to either march his troops from the south of China to the Northern blockade, or he was to withdraw from the battle with the South Koreans completely. Rather than listening to his advisers, Commander Zhao decided to withdraw his troops. He did not want to risk the lives of thousands, and cared little for the disparaging comments he received from not only his advisers, but the majority of his people as well. Historians speculated that if Commander Zhao had ordered his troops to the Northern blockade, he would have lost over half a million soldiers, and a large portion of China. General Xin Zhao’s personal decision to surrender to the South Korean march saved China from what could have been a disaster for the nation. Larry Winston, a character from the novel “From pennies to millions”, was blessed with 2 kids and a loving wife. However, Winston had little money to his name, and his AM to PM job was not cutting it during the Great Depression. Disregarding his wife’s desperate pleas to not quit his job, Larry quit and started his own business. The first few months were tough, with all of Larry’s food rations going to his wife and kids. Six months later Larry had saved enough money to open another chain for his business. By the end of the novel, Larry is a successful restaurant owner with over six chains in the city of New York. Larry’s decision to quit his office job and start his own business is a clear example of someone accomplishing more when allowed to do things in their own way. Finally, consider Farid el Hage, a well known Lebanese film maker. Farid was working in the film industry, but he felt like all the movies he made were boring and had no effect on the viewers. He wanted to make a movie that left a mark on the viewers. Although looked down upon in Lebanon, Farid decided to make a movie about the role of Women in Lebanon. After battling through many legal battles, Farid’s movie aired and was taken to heart by many Lebanese people. Farid’s personal decision to make this movie is my final example showing that people do things better on their own way. As seen through Zhao’s wise decision to withdraw his troops, Winston’s courageous decision to start his own busines, and Farid’s perserverance to get his movie to air, doing things in one’s own way has led and will lead to many great accomplishments in future.

How many pages was this?

I’d give it a 5/6. You do a good job of supporting your thesis and answering the question.

I did this in the 25 minutes they gave me, but i’m a pretty fast typer so i’m worried about time on the actual test. Anyways.

I scored a 1920, 610 CR ( 16 wrong ) 620 writing (11 wrong 10 Essay) 690 Math (7 wrong). What should I be doing with 1 more week until the real sat? I need 2050+, 4/7 wrong on Math were stupid mistakes, and most of my CR mistakes were vocabulary. 11 wrong on the writing section kind of stumped me because I thought it was pretty easy when i finished. Is there anything I can do for this upcoming week that will give me the highest chances of getting the score I want?
