Did you enjoy Emory?

just wondering basically. socially, how was it? did you have many friends or just a few very close friends? did you go into the city a lot, stay in campus, or party a lot? Can you say they were the best 4 years of your life?

thanks everyone :)

I loved Emory. Socially, I had a lot of acquaintances (people I didn’t know really well, but could stop and chat with in passing), many friends (people I’d party with and study with), and a handful of very close friends. As far as activities, I split my time pretty evenly between on-campus activities and stuff out in the city.

Campus- My boyfriend at the time was in a fraternity, so some nights I went to parties on frat row (didn’t drink though, it was fine). Then there were meetings and events for student groups I was in. There were the nights a group of us would go to someone’s room, order food and watch a movie or sporting event.

Off-campus- This became easier as a junior and senior, when I had a car. As a Scholar I was able to get reimbursed for trips to the Symphony, museums and theater performances a few times each semester. I also did a ton of community service off campus. I was never into the bar/club scene, but I’d go out to eat a handful of times each month (Like quite a few people on financial aid, I was on a budget).

If you’d asked me in 2006 if my years at Emory were the best of my life, I would’ve said yes. Now it’s probably a tie between college and med school.
