Did you get into your dream school/reach?

If so, what was your reaction?
If not, did you get into another school that satisfied you?

My dream school was CMU for either SCS or ECE. I got waitlisted at SCS but got in ECE  I was pretty excited xD Actually I was freaking out lol. But I can’t go because of tuition. CMU is 60k a year, and with financial aid, 30k a year. I also got into Berkeley and I would only have to pay 6k a year. So yeah. It’s a huge deal. xD But it’s okay because I love Cal :)

yes, yes I did.

There were several private schools I would have liked to attend, but did not apply to because they were unaffordable.

Instead, I applied to several UCs and CSUs. My top choice, UCSD, accepted me but after getting into UCLA I looked into it more and decided to go there instead.

And then I just wasted a year on GEs and [one class](https://www.lscore.ucla.edu/courses.php) relating to my [major, which I decided at the end of the year I wanted to change[/url”>http://www.registrar.ucla.edu/catalog/catalog12-13-238.htm]change anyways. But I hadn’t met their curricular requirement for transferring into that department and meeting the requirement would be a big catch-22, so I said f*** you and your bureaucratic nonsense and I left.

Now I’m at a community college](http://www.registrar.ucla.edu/catalog/catalog12-13-546.htm) enrolled in classes that are actually related to what I want to learn (and they’ve helped me in real life already), living in the moment and not worrying about what happens next.

Nope, but I’m perfectly happy with where I’m going next year.

Yes but my dream school isn’t exactly what most people think of when they think of their dream school.

I made a list of everything I wanted in a school and that was my “dream school”. I found a school, it fit my description (plus more!), I got in, and that’s where I’m going.

Stanford. Nope. In fact, most people at my school got rejected from the top-tier elite privates despite us being a very competitive class, lol. 20 of us going to Berkeley.
No big deal though. I’ll be heading to UIUC studying CS/ECE, and I must admit I love it there.

I’m pretty happy/excited about Berkeley. I believe it was the one I dreamed of at some point haha (I never got attached to colleges so the rejection sting wouldn’t be harsh). I thought it was the most difficult to get into out of where I applied, but USC dropped to 19 something and UCLA is a 20 something percent acceptance rate.

UCLA was the only school that rejected me : (. Shoulda studied more for the SAT, but oh well! I live near LA, so would have definitely gone there.

I was hoping for an Ivy League like Columbia/Brown or UChicago but after getting flat out rejected from the first two and waitlisted by UChicago I was pretty down in the dumps. However, the day after I got my Ivy rejections I got my acceptance letter from NYU, a school I just randomly applied to by copying and pasting essays with no intention of ever going just because I thought it was below my standards (I had done no research whatsoever into NYU). However, when I realized I got into Stern, one of the best business schools in the country in the middle of the big city (I love urban life) with a 60k scholarship I realized that NYU is my idea of a dream school

@nejworld: similar story here. I learned about UIUC literally the day before the application was due. BSed an essay by copy-pasting parts from the many essays I’d written. Applied, got in, but didn’t intend on going there. I did some research though and it turned out I got into a top 10 school for engineering with very good FA in a nice, pleasant micro-urban area.

Makes you realize that Ivy Leagues can be pretty overrated.

I got in.

My reaction: “Merp.”
