Did you order the new iPhone?

I would swap for the 64 no matter what. 16 isn’t enough.

Absolutely agree, having limped along with a very/too full 4S 16GB, that that is not enough memory.

The new iphone could cure cancer and xiggi would still find fault with it!

You mean it doesn’t cure cancer? Or perfect cold fusion?

I know I need to swap it out, just don’t want to deal with it!! I was so excited to be able to preorder and get through to AT&T within 15 minutes, that I wasn’t even thinking straight; after all, it was 3:00 in the morning ;)

I had the phone delivered to the office, so if FedEx comes at a decent time, I will try to run to the AT&T company store closest to work and see what the line looks like, and if they even have the phone available. I went to the store in my neighborhood this afternoon and the manager told me they were only going to receive 150 iPhones of any size and color. I asked if that was what all the company store were getting; she mentioned two nearby that were going to receive more, one being the store closest to work.

With my luck, FedEx will come at the end of the day, instead of the morning like he usually does. :frowning: Do you think anyone will notice if I sneak out of work at lunchtime and don’t return?

You can probably cancel your order if it hadn’t been delivered.
I had my iPad mini delivered to the Apple Store, but when I read about the expected upgrades, I canceled it online.
Personally, 16 Gb wouldn’t be worth it, my 5 has 32 GB & my iPad 3 has 64.
With additional features comes more memory requirements that is why the system software requires more space, it does more than the previous OS.

Haha, PG, what is that you expect me to say? I have not really talked about the iPhone… yet. Will hear the reports from home this weekend. So far I have dealt with the updates on iPad and iphone and described the change objectively. I like a few things and remain underwhelmed by the lack of overdue hardware improvements.

Fwiw, the discussion about the required memory is what represents the silliness of the limitations. The 16 gig limitations would be inexistant with a memory slot or with reasonable up sales of a 32 gig module. After all what does it cost? Three or four dollars more on a 700 dollars phone? The 64 module adds 20 dollars.

As far as the rest like the photo or email “updates” to each his or her own!

Imo apple doesn’t " allow" memory cards or even replaceable batteries because that is an avenue where people have problems with third party/ counterfeit extras.
I never had a problem with my storage card on my blackberry, but then there recently was a girl who had a counterfeit battery in her android phone which caught on fire when it was under her pillow.

EK, Im not aware of any merchant that would allow to cancel an order that has been shipped.

I’m waiting for real life your reviews! :)

EK, it is applehead-propagated nonsense that safety is the reason why Apple does not do those things. Like iPhones never caught on fire?

Can not cancel the order as it will be here tomorrow! If the AT&T store doesn’t have what I want tomorrow, I will just return the one I preordered and order a new one. Most likely I will order online with Apple at that point instead of AT&T as I believe their delivery time frame better.

Try it.
My order had been recieved by the Apple Store, they were sending me emails and text messages to pick it up.
Additionally, I have canceled other orders that have been already shipped.
All you have to do is refuse to sign for it and they will send it back, or if it is something that UPS dropped on your porch, you just take it UNOPENED to the UPS site and they will send it back.

Just don’t open it, then you have to pay for shipping.

If I decided not to accept the package, it would take AT&T a good while to receive it back and update my information, thus not allowing me to upgrade. I am not looking to pay full price for a phone of any kind! I will need to have the phone in hand to return in person before purchasing a new one.

I actually have a $50 off at Best Buy for a phone purchase that I would love to use, but going to Best Buy would be just cruel punishment. When they had a weekend sale on phones early this year, I went to get one for my daughter; stood in line for 2 hours and then it took the sales person 30 minutes or more to enter the info in the computer to upgrade the phone. Didn’t have to do any of that with the preorder; woke up at 3:00am, ordered and computer was turn off and I was back under the covers by 3:20!

I know you have all been on pins and needles wondering what I did :)) FedEx arrived at the office at 12:35 and I was out the door withing minutes! Arrived at the larger AT&T company store close to work and was greeted promptly and put on the list; there was 8 in front of me. Within 30 minutes one of the reps came to get me; she was newish, so she had to have some help from the manager to handle the exchange, but I was out of there in 45 minutes. Not a bad deal on launch day.

I can not imagine camping out and waiting at the Apple store, but then again, I didn’t need the phone today. Had I pre ordered the correct phone to begin with, I would have had my phone in hand at 12:45 while sitting in the comfort of my office. The only issue is the woman said I would have to come into a store to have it activated as I didn’t want it done now as I needed to finish the work day and not setting up the phone and emails. She seemed to think orders that were shipped had to call into AT&T to have the phone activated, and those purchased in store had to be activated in store. My understanding was there were instructions to do so yourself; I guess I will find out tonight when I play with the phone.

While I was worried the gold would be too flashy for me, it is a soft color, and the white face works nicely with it. Can’t wait to get home tonight to play with it!

I waited to order. Now I’ve learned I need at least 32GB memory. I want to see colors in person, but nice to know the gold isn’t blingy.

Is there a reason to buy from ATT vs Apple store?

My son replaced his 5s (64GB) with the HTC One M8.

Well, mine has arrived! Now all I have to do is figure out how to sync it, thought I am hesitant to switch right before DH goes out of town. Oh, and I will have to wait for tech support to come home for dinner.

My DH has a gold 5s, and I decided I was tired of the black front, so that left the silver, with the white front. I’ll be getting a case for it anyway. DH has a gold morphie case for his.

jym- the gold 6 has a white front also which is why I got it; I also was tired of the black front.

Yes, the gold and silver have the white face, but I didn’t want to take the chance I confusing gold phones so selected the silver.

Ah those decisions about the color schemes. A few hours later, the design beauties get dressed with the ugliest clothes available:

Crazy how companies spend a small fortune agonizing over the most minute details, the most innovative ways to shave a tenth of a millimeter and a hundredth of an ounce and then see how the consumers have to protect the phones with small armored tanks. :)
