I applied and was accepted to 3 schools. I committed to one, and didn’t say anything to the others because I committed right before the last day to commit. One of the schools had a deposit fee and everything which I did not pay, however the college is still emailing me about registering for orientation, housing, health information, etc as if a was going there. I’ve emailed the address given in these emails twice to no response. Why would they do this if I haven’t done anything to indicate I would be attending and tried telling them I’ve committed elsewhere? I feel bad because I know it’s unethical to commit twice…
Because different departments of colleges don’t talk to each other. Admissions may not have let the bursar’s office or financial aid office know that you didn’t confirm with a deposit. Pick up a phone and call the registration office and tell them you aren’t coming. Keep copies of all your emails.
First, don’t feel bad. You emailed them twice and if anyone asks you have written documentation that the school has been notified that you are not attending. I agree with the above, that it is probably worth just picking up the phone and calling.
This happened to my daughter for months after she informed the school she was not matriculating. Seemed like a disconnect between admissions and the bursar. Call.
