Someone left a package of shortbread in the kitchen. Perfect combination of sugar, carbs and fat. I just walked out with a cup of coffee.

Ohio, my sympathies on surviving the fur finickiness enforcement discussion.

Quick note on hr. As we all know, I’ve never even done monitoring, but I will make an observation. Blank’s goal is different than yours. Your primary goal is very speedy, competitive level shorter distances, if I recall, and she’s preparing for the 1/2 in the fall. May require different training strategies.

Yays for KMC on the 5 lb party and Saba’s loose pants. Enjoy your mother-daughter time, Saba.

Miami, you said “and they are not covered by any private ins.” But not being covered–as implants were not in the past–is different from the current state of affairs involving partial or insufficient coverage by some insurance companies, including mine. There’s no question that dental implants are very expensive, though.

Congrats, Jane and Saba on the pants/jeans benchmarks. Everyone is doing great!

I think the key to heart rate training (whether it be “low” heart rate or not) is to make sure the easy runs are “easy”. I’m not good at that. I tend to do all my all training at about the same level if I’m not careful.

Congratulations to kmc and sabaray!! Yay for the 20 lb loss kmc! I am so very happy for you! sabaray…how great that feels to realize you will be needing new pants! What great success! Hooray for CJane in skinny jeans! Way to go!

2 weeks vacation and a gian of 7+lbs is in few days. I hope that everything is the same as in a past few years.

I have been doing water aerobics 4x a week and have gotten my walking distance on land up to almost two miles. ( unfortunately then I am in pain for a couple days- I don’t know if it is too fast or if that is just too far)

I think I am also pushing myself a little too fast in the water ( I stay in the pool for about another 30 minutes & use weights), but it feels more like fibro pain not the satisfying muscle soreness. But I hadn’t been able to do anything aerobic really for several years, so I am trying to make up for lost time, because it is so much fun!
It is only afterwards that I hurt.
I also found a small study indicating that water exercise results in greater gains in strenght, with similar output.

Gotta love cross training.

Implants are my future for as long as I live. I have 6 of them already. One of my current insurances partially covered the cap. I believe that they will drop it soon. Everything is going in this direction. Premiums are up and up (and now Medically related taxes are also up) and coverage is down, and will continue going down faster…

emerald, why don’t you just swim? If you swim fast (which I cannot do), then you will have your aerobic. then get out, take shower and do weights, come home and go for a walk and you will discover how much easier it is to walk after swimming. I have been wondering about this phenomena. Just happened to talk to a real swimmer in her 50s. She said, it is known that exercising is easier after you swim, it loosens muscles and water bring that overall feeling of being in a greatest mood. I bet she knows, she was a competitive swimmer.

EK, happy to hear you’re able to exercise! Yay! Lots of great news here this morning. :)

36 min treadmill run. Busy hour at the gym, but I still got a great parking spot and use of my favorite treadmill.

Deborah T - agree totally with you. I fully admit that I didn’t give the low HR thing a chance. Even if my objective was different I probably would have stopped. I simply grew tired of walking/shuffling. Just wasn’t fun.

I don’t swim yet because my knees hyperextend. Which is why they cause me trouble in the first place. :frowning: my problem has been that I am too flexible, makes you much more prone to injury. Also I often have to stop & massage the bony bits back into alignment, in my right knee- some days more than others. If I was swimming laps, that would be much more difficult.

I am trying to get my quads built up enough to the point where less stress is on my knee so perhaps I can eventually swim more, but I am reserving judgment of that possibility.

Sabaray, I missed your pants achievement! Here’s a special light up wardrobe enhancement for you.

Started a Dr. Oz three day Detox Cleanse today. Just wanted to see what they are all about and if you actually feel better after. I feel like I should be on Myth Busters! The green tea isn’t my favorite thing but the morning drink was actually very good. Had the red breakfast drink of raspberries, banana, flax seeds, lemon, spinach and almond butter. I didn’t add the Stevia as I like tart better than sweet. One good thing from this detox is they want you to take fish oil supplements and I have avoided that in the past so today is a first for that, too! The lunch drink is green…celery, cucumber, kale, green apple, lime, coconut oil, almond milk and pineapple. Will let you know if it is as tasty!

Yay! KMCMOM! Party time. You are in a good groove with exercise and weight loss!

I’m thinking the calf tenderness may be from the snow shoes sticking to the snow and having to “lift” more aggressively with each step than I’m used to with light fluffy snow.

I’ve been lucky to avoid poison ivy on my hikes. It doesn’t grow at higher elevations and the guidebook trail descriptions often point out where it grows in abundance along lower trails.
