New week, new workout. Sticking with 6 rep sets and fairly heavy (for me). Really good workout. Tried to do 6 rep sets of chin ups, but could only do crappy ones, so I went back to 4 + 2. This warm up is fantastic. Works all the stuff that a geezer needs to work!

PlantMom, between the snakes and alligators, . Heck, I could barely handle seeing a palmetto bug on the outside of a window!

I always listen to music when I’m walking or hiking. Always music on the Airdyne or some kind of fast paced workout when I’m going to be huffin and puffin. Generally listen to podcasts on the slower paced strength workouts like today because I can actually pay enough attention to follow a podcast.

In the Gym

Not fun.

On a positive note, despite the glacial pace of the scale movement here, I am in a pair of skinny jeans that hadn’t been an option until a few days ago. And just today – and I am only sharing this to encourage those who might not be seeing tremendous movement on the scale, to recognize that other changes may be happening-- several people in the gym remarked on how good my legs looked. From “your legs look really toned” to “your legs look great, you’ve got to know that…” So, not a 5 lb. party, but I will take it.

Yay, CJane!!!

stretch/strength/core

Thanks, Deborah. Sounds like things are going well in the exercise dept. for you.

Always have my Ipod when I am at the gym or outside walking by myself. Listening to TV in the gym makes things go faster.

Only 2 miles today as I was traveling OOS.

CJANE:

I’m pretty sure that anyone who can do a set of 30 burpees is going to fit in their skinny jeans and get compliments on their legs!

Way to go!

Nice, CJane! I’ll take skinny jeans over a number on the scale any day!

On my trail, that would result in instant poison ivy - something ill have to contend with soon enough!

Idad, re: you calf, I have a theory about melting snow after my trek yesterday. The micro spikes were great as much of the uphill trail was ice, but in other parts I noticed that snow would just give way, causing my foot to slide sideways, straining my calf and knee more than usual, especially on narrow, curving parts of the trail. Had I had the snowshoes on, I suspect this may have been more pronounced. I had to slow down to manage it.
So I’d say melting snow trails (mine are now part pure ice, part very soggy mud, and in parts, very decaying snow/slush) are indeed a hiking challenge. I am clear I couldn’t have done my short trek without the poles and the micro spikes!

Kudos on the skinny jeans, cjane!

Ps I’ve found a way to wok late without blowing the diet thanks to Amy’s organic bowls! Only problem is I have to plan ahead to work late ;)

Second morning in a row that I’ve made it to the gym instead of waiting for the afternoon to exercise. D is home this week and we are headed off this afternoon for a mini-vacation to scout out some post-grad apartments. Sabadog returned to class last night so that was some “bonus” exercise for me - nothing like nine dogs who’ve never seen each other before to give your arm muscles a workout.

My happy moment yesterday was realizing that I could take my pants on and off without unzipping them! Not quite as fun as skinny jeans, but they, I’ll take it!

Have a good few days, all!

Enjoy your time with d, sabaray. And yay on the pants.

I just weighed in and it’s 5lb party day for me - 20 lbs now! Woohoo. I want a sparkly hat!

PlantMom
“Our insurance covers implants”
-You are lucky to have such a high limit per year. I have never had Dental limit higher than $1500. Even when I had 2 insurances that covered implants and I did the implant over 2 years (specifically planned to have a surgery at the end of one year and have a crown on implant in another year, which effectively resulted in 4 coverages), I still paid about $1200 for this implant. My dentist have mentioned that the limit was not raised in some 60+ years. You must have some very special coverage.
In regard of price change, it is going up premendously, there is no sign whatsoever of it going down. Myt first implant total was about $1700, my last was about $4000 (both for one tooth)

I come bearing gifts!

A lovely light up head piece for abasket and her 5k, MOWC and her half marathon, CJane and her skinny jeans, and kmcmom and her newest 5lbs!

[Light-Up Neon Mesh Tubes Hat](http://www.mardigrasoutlet.com/catalog/3936.html&utm_source=google&utm_medium=base?gclid=CJbancCX97UCFW2nPAodNRcAug)

I think ohiopublic should get one too, for enduring a meeting about appropriate racing head adornments for today’s high school runner!

I love my hat!! I am always known for loving to wear color, so I will don this hat proudly!!

HAHA

Have a good mini-vaca Sabaray!

I ran 3.5 miles yesterday. I had every intention of keeping my hr below 135, and I just couldn’t do it. I compromised and let it go to 145 (mostly). This I can do, because at least I am running. I walk all day at my job, so when I’m out for fun, I want to run (hm, that sounds like something Johnnie Cochran would say). I felt good afterwards, like I could have done another 3.5. I was even able to run up the last big hill at under 160. This hill is the very last .4 miles of my route, and on a normal run my hr will be in the 180’s going up this thing.

So my plan now is to do all my runs for the next month like this, then I’ll kick it up for the month before my 10k.

Blankmind - if the heart rate don’t fit, you’ve gotta acquit. My experience was the same as yours. I threw in the towel.
