My new shoes are New Balance 860’s. They are silver green and purple.
I also found a pair of winter running tights for half price. I was pretty excited because I’ve been looking and they are pretty pricey.

Wow. That was NOT fun. I think I’ll go with the bees or wasps or whatever it was instead of the long run. 16 hot, humid, hilly miles. Daughter thinks I didn’t fuel enough (not at all) during the first 10 and I really ran out of gas in the last, even after getting my Nuun drink and a HumaGel at 10 miles. Lesson learned. The weather seemed to bother me today. We were slow, but we got it done. We did have a lot of tree cover and some clouds, but the temp was 74-83 while we ran with about 90% humidity. It was bad.

184.2 miles for August. There was NO possibility of me extending the 16 miler to hit that last .8, even if I had realized it ahead of time…

In other fashion news, I just found some women’s undies (called Runderwear, I think) that say “long run” on the butt. They also had ones that say “track day”, “tempo run”, “race” and “rest day”. Very cute.

Just wow… LOL

They are called Rundies!

Down 1.2 so I’m hanging around 25 pounds down total. Cranked it with strength / circuit training today – feeling very strong and asking the trainer to keep adding on more weights.

~ 3 1/3 mi run
Boats, babies, and kayaks.

MOWC:

Uggh. 16 miles in that kind of oppressive weather sounds like you have earned the “you are an animal” award for today. I’m definitely not worthy!

PG:

Keep the good news coming! You’ve inspired me to add a little weight to a couple of exercises in my workout today…

MOfWC, I had to look up the Rundies - they are made by Oiselle and will make a great gift for the big kiddo!
While browsing the site, I found this:

[Running Wedding Dress | Oiselle Running Apparel for Women](http://www.oiselle.com/shop/bridal)

;) LOL!!!

Pizzagirl - yay! 25 is a sweet number.

I’ve got a pretty busy schedule coming up here for the next couple of weeks. Don’t know when I will have time to post. See you mid-month!

Abasket, I hope the race went/is going/goes? well.

Bromfield, glad to hear your ankle is on the mend.

Deb, enjoy the new shoes!

Have a good early September, Deborah! It’s my birthday month!

Love the wedding dress! I thought the Rundies were by Oiselle, and I like their stuff.

I am still pretty wiped out. I needed food, but nothing appealed. Finally split a turkey sub with H and I feel better. We are going to someone’s house to watch the UT(Tennessee, that would be, in this neck of the woods) game (UT is the enemy to Vanderbilt) and eating pizza, beer and homemade peach ice cream (H makes the ice cream).

deb, enjoy your new shoes! Finding winter tights for 1/2 price at this time of the year is a bonus!

MOfWC, pizza, beer and homemade ice cream sounds like a great post-16 miler spread. Happy upcoming birthday month!

Deborah, I hope it is not “running-like-a-chicken-with-the-head-cut-off” busy, just busy. I look forward to reading your posts! Mr B and I will be taking a week off too.

Pizzagirl:

Thanks for the motivation! You made me bump the weights up today. Funny how that works.

*TRX plank and side plank
Stability ball deadbug
Stabilty ball toe touches

Med ball slams
Box jumps

DB front squats
3pt rows

DB single leg deadlift
TRX pushup with hold at bottom*

I bumped the front squats up from 2 x 30lbs to 2 x 35lbs on the second and third sets. And bumped the 3 pt rows up to 60lb from 50lb on the second and third sets.

The toughest part of the front squats was getting the dumbbells up to my shoulders. After that, it was a really good weight for me (just 8 reps). I had done 60 lb rows before, but never with my new slow, controlled style. These were really good. So I appreciate the nudge!

Bunsen- Fleet Feet told me the Rundies run a little bit small so if between sizes, size up.

I HATE bicycles! I wish no one in my family rode one. WildChild crashed again yesterday (1 week before half-ironman world championships in Vegas) because someone on a cruiser but in front of him on the bike path. I HATE multi-use paths for cycling, too, but he doesn’t have much choice from where he lives. He can barely lift his leg- sounds like a bad bruise and not anything broken. He has a massage today and is icing it. I hope it will be OK. This is his 3rd crash in a year. Now daughter and son in law have bikes. I just don’t think they are safe when there are cars and other riders around. I love my bike in theory but haven’t been on it since Oct 2011.

Good timing, MoWC - My D just posted on Facebook some photos from a bike ride she and her friends did in Memphis last week. At least this ride was a big event with streets closed to other traffic. I really don’t know how serious cyclists train - any cycling path I’ve ever been on has had recreational cyclists as well.

Trying to get a bit more focused about food, especially for lunches. I have a roast cooking now, which will be good for a few lunches. I had wanted to do something more freezer-friendly but everything I thought of required ingredients I don’t have at home now.

Eddie, keep it up! Small changes really do add up.

Egads, MoWC. I felt like a puddle after walking 3 miles in today’s heat. Hope the peach ice cream was as marvelous as it sounds.

Been traveling, so my apologies for missing significant stuff on the thread.
Deborah, have fun while you are away from here.
MOWC, speedy recovery for WC. I, too, am absolutely petrified of bike crashes!
PG-- enjoy your success!
Hoping Bromfield’s ankle is better asap.
Looks like there are some super solid workouts and runs being accomplished by everyone here. And all of you who are hard at work moving stuff, landscaping and gardening, etc. you have my utmost respect.

Today I did 30 minutes of hill repeats. Returned to my old running/boot camp stomping grounds for a particular hill I have been well-acquainted with in the past. Funny. Turns out, they still suck.

Lots of Vitamin D afterward – I plan on sucking every last drop out of summer.

Yikes about WC! Fingers crossed that he is going to recover soon.

CJane, I’ve been thinking about you. In your previous post said you were not feeling well, then you have not posted for a while. Glad that everything is ok.

I did it! I did one measly pull-up, unassisted! Yay.

Nothing measly about a pull-up. Yay, BB!

BB an unassisted pull up is one of my dream goals. Congrats.

I’ve got to think that the percentage of the over-50 crowd who can do an unassisted pull up/chin up is very, very small. Even smaller for women. That’s definitely a milestone accomplishment…
