I had Nutella this morning. But it had to be done, and it will be worth any setback on weight tomorrow morning

Have made real progress on strength in Pilates - the other teacher in the studio (not mine) even commented on it just from observing me. I am doing Pilates again and weight training tomorrow and then the 5K on Sunday, but my goal is seriously just to finish and not die. And now that I have figured out how to do a free-standing headstand (not up against the wall), it is a good thing I work at home, because you never know when I’ll be upside down I will turn into That Girl!

Nrdsb4- This time of year H and I comment multiple times that we are glad we aren’t in Dallas anymore. Summer and fall are SO much better in TN. We sure miss our Chinese food, though! And winter is worse in TN, but still not awful. Just more grey days.

It’s a little hard to see what’s what because of the mirrored walls, but I see a nice collection of dumbells and kettlebells. Pretty fancy chin up bars mounted to the ceiling. In the mirror reflection, you can see a full olympic weight lifting cage. Foreground to the left: is that one of the zero-gravity treadmills that ohiopublic has been using?

And over by the door, yes, an Airdyne. Well, it’s the fancy Airdyne-clone from a company started by the ex-Pres of Schwinn Fitness. Exact replica of an Airdyne, but more heavy duty.

I thought about that one when I bought my Airdyne, but the original company Lamar Fitness went bellyup. The bike was then sold by Star Trac, but I’m not sure it’s in production.

Oh, well, I guess my little basement workout area will just have to do. I bet I can work up a sweat just as well!

Nice workouts PG, and good luck on your race this weekend. I hope the running skirt is pretty and comfy! I was hoping for a smashing new running skirt design on the Project Runway active wear challenge last night. Unfortunately the closest approximation was a hideous (imo) dropped crotch dumpy pants thing.

KMC, I too have a fear of going out onto the local waterways in a kayak or canoe. The thought of being swamped by a larger motorized water vehicle, and then consumed by the local wildlife, or being struck by lightning, or having a close encounter with a water moc keeps me landlocked.

Thai curry and salmon sounds very tasty Idad. I will have to try this soon.

I had an easy morning walk today, and am headed to the pool for some vitamin D therapy and catch-up time on reading. Only low 90’s here today. So much cooler than Dallas!

It makes me wonder if use of antibiotics in livestock farming and fattening changes the organisms in the animals, allowing them to put on weight more quickly.

I won’t taunt you guys with the weather today in NH. (Currently at the Manchester Airport: Sunny, not a cloud in the sky, 69 degrees, 32% humidity, 0 mph breeze)…

The dumbbell racks are turned around backwards, which for some reason I find very amusing, considering that gym probably cost more than my house. :D

Well, nre, fecal transplants have been used to treat bad cases of C. diff, according to some reports. Making someone thinner… I dunno, could it be a reverse treatment, since a bad case of diarrhea will do that to you? :)

Idad- great fitness advice and now fantastic recipes. We had salmon and asparagus earlier this week. When we have it next week I will try your recipe.

Today was an easy 20 minute run and 1 set of 8 chin ups and 1 set of 6 pull ups.
Tomorrow the plan is for a tough weight workout finishing with multiple rotations of kettle bell swings.

Good day on the food again today. Dinner was filet mignon and steamed broccoli covered with butter. My night time binge eating has been held in abeyance with only an occasional slip. Last misstep was Labor Day.

Had just enough time to quickly catch up – running skirts, and early morning runs, and hikes, and recipes and lots of good stuff!

Yesterday was a cardio dance class. Today was Gym Day WMI-style.

5 minute treadmill sprints

Good morning. Just getting ready for writers group this am the looking forward to the alleged warm spell headed our way!

Plant mom, that article was fascinating. Of course, that makes me wonder what kind of dysfunctions could be passed as well…suspect we’ll find out because I predict this research will be too lucrative to pace conservatively :)

MomWC, sendin WC the mojo for Vegas and sending good-gf-meeting vibes as well. PG, sending you the “THAT girl” mojo too!

Tom, your dinner sounds delicious. That’s probably what I shoulda had, but was trapped in a bar and instead grazed on risotto cakes with aioli, French onion soup, and a BLT salad. Probably not the lowest cal sustenance available, but it did sop up the Chardonnay just fine If there’s any wonder why I’m a slow poke on the weightloss front, well, there shouldn’t be :)

Cute story on that front. Stopped by the pool store on the way to work to grab some cover free. I’ve known the owner for several years, and like me, she comes from a stocky lineage. Solid, muscular from all the swimming, but a good bit of heft that comes with the entertaining lifestyle. Hadnt seen her in quite a while…usually just her staff. She was raving about how good I looked so I told her how much I’d lost.

She said “How on earth did you lose that much weight when you have a pool? Did you quit drinking?” I had to laugh, because its true that as a newer pool owner, I’m blown away by just how much more entertaining goes on, and how hard it can be to dial back the daiquiris. I told her the trick was during the week to just have the mini bottles of wine on hand so you can just do one with dinner. In truth, that’s helped enormously. Then I turned her on to aquajogging. I figure she’s a good candidate and can spread the word :)

Love the pool and drinking connection! How funny(and true)!
All is well here in Nevada. I can’t believe people can stand to live here. Brown, barren, one strip shopping center after another- and that’s in the NICE part of town. I planned on an 8 mike run this morning and only made 7. I simply ran out of interest and decent route. I started in the dark since I can’t sleep enough in this time zone, but the streets are well lit. It was just getting light when I found a paved path in the dessert. Surrounded by dirt and rocks. I got about 1/2 mile on it and saw a man coming towards me. He was not exercising. I was completely isolated. I turned around and went the other way back to the road- fast. I feel bad that a woman alone has to be that way and I was talking to the kids’ coach (our new BFF who is staying with us here and will also be with us in Kona) and he said I did the right thing. I feel guilty because it was probably a nice man out for a stroll.

This event is something to behold. Top triathletes from all over the world. You should see the food (very specific food) our two bought and are consuming at a rapid pace. Coach had them run a little yesterday (WildChild swam before his 4 hour flight) and now they are off to try out the swim course, which is in nasty, murky Lake Las Vegas. We will meet up at the expo a little later and then take their bikes out to the transition. It’s all a logistical nightmare. Coach says the girlfriend has a chance to place. WildChild has much less chance since he is supposed to hold back some for Kona.

We really like the girlfriend. She is adorable and very fun. She said she doesn’t get nervous for these distance events because the track meets at Duke were so intense that these seem less stressful.

That would be a bit of a “spook” moment MOWC - you did the right thing to turn around - no regrets. Glad to hear you are enjoying the running vibe and the family!!

5k WALK this morning - need to remember that I can get good exercise from a sat walk in addition to running- still easily broke a sweat!!

Up a pound on scale (ugh) but I know I’m doing the right thing by all the yoga, Pilates and strength training (as well as dance). Am starting swim lessons in a week. I need to build cardio back into the mix, but I think longer term I might be better served to focus on body fat versus a number on a scale. Still and all WW is helpful in terms of discipline and tracking.

I got so enthused about being able to do a headstand that I asked S if he would video it to send to D who is already away at school. “Uh, no thanks, Mom.” It’s good I can bore you all with these details!
