Twizzlers have never been gluten-free:

IDad postulated that the benefits people think they get from going gluten-free are not due to eliminating gluten but are due to reduced carb consumption.

If being GF leads to reduced carb consumption he is probably right, although gluten intolerance is really a spectrum disorder and it is not clear how many people have an actual gluten problem. Estimates I’ve seen are all over the board.

My guess is that many/most people who go GF are just shifting to other carb sources and aren’t really reducing carb consumption. If you need to be GF, you will see health benefits even if you don’t reduce your overall carb intake.

Rob Gronkowski: Stability ball plank/Stir the Pot

YouTube

Three mile walk (beautiful NE fall day) and 20 minutes of KB workout today.

Stir the pot is on my list for today. No plans to go run out on the football field on Sunday, however. ;)

I count six exercises in the Rob Gronkowski video that I do in my workouts, including the Ali Shuffle with the agility ladder.

Plank, Stir the Pot, DB bench press, two agility ladder exercises, medicine ball push presses.

Definitely see some Stuart McGill influences in those back rehab exercises.

Good luck to PackMom and MOWC, should you choose to race, tomorrow!

Thanks, Deborah. Got here. 4 hours in a middle seat on the plane due to my rerouting. But I’m here.

Wow. What a whirlwind of travel, MOfWC! Good luck tomorrow, either to your daughter or to you both! Even if you decide to bag it, you will still be a CC Iron Lady of Marathons. :)

Good luck and perfect weather to all runners tomorrow!

Oh, no…

[Robertson: Low-Carb Diet Violates God’s Principles - YouTube](<a href=“Robertson: Low-Carb Diet Violates God's Principles - YouTube”>Robertson: Low-Carb Diet Violates God's Principles - YouTube)

My pants fit, but Pat Robertson says I’m goin’ straight to hell with my diet, or something like that…

I wonder if God likes sour gummi worms and Pringles, too?

God is sponsored by the wheat and sugar industries? Who would have thought! :D

^Good grief. I had no idea I was “violating the principals God set down” by helping hubby avoid full-on diabetes  and I’ve never heard carbs referred to as the “fire” that keeps everything burning…I’m pretty sure Pat misspoke and meant “fuel” :)

God probably really loves Twizzlers…because hey, they’re eternal. You can bury one of those things and dig it up ten years later and you’re good to go :)

Sendin Packmom and MomWC the light for great runs or rests, depending on their druthers! Big kudos to Eddie on her weightloss!

For me today my hope is to get out kayaking. The fall color is beautiful. The duck hunters all seem to bag their limit early a.m. And I’ve noticed its quieter in the afternoon so we’ll see if I can squeeze it in between painting and getting ready for in-law visit. Although now it loos like its starting to rain.

Pool guys are coming Monday to close her up for the season. It sounds crazy but last year I started looking into those retractable winter structure covers that they attach to the house so you can keep the pool open all winter…then slide the giant plexi sleeve back come spring. They’re outrageously expensive, particularly since mine would need to be custom designed to accommodate an odd-shaped terrace…but man, if I ever had some great gobs of extra money to burn I would SOOOO do it! I have a feeling though the engineers would tell me that due to the drainage around the pool I couldn’t…so its truly just a fantasy that gets me through that fall transition.

I’ve just reaffirmed my commitment to a low-carb diet.

Open enrollment for health insurance has arrived and Big Brother wants us to save $1000 by having our blood tested “at no cost to us”. Other than an hour drive to the closest testing facility. I need to find a new primary care doc and just have him order the tests, I think. Basic tests for blood sugar, cholesterol. Also want our measurements. H is going to get a wake up call because I’m making him do the tests.

KMC, a pool enclosure would be a terrific luxury, I think. Even our neighbors, who I affectionately refer to as Snooki and the Situation and burn through money faster than the fires of carbohydrates close their pool in the winter. And Virginia is a wee bit more temperate than Michigan, I think. ;)

Good luck to the runners today!

41 degree rain- my dealbreaker conditions. Not happening. Started with the race in 2 jackets to run 3 miles. Couldn’t turn around due to the crowd so decided to do the half marathon. Ditched one of the jackets. Slow and miserable but I got 2nd in the age group even though I was registered for the full. Some races won’t let you bail and count in the other race. Got a mug. Huge 15 minute PR for my daughter in 4:26:52. She was fierce! Not an easy day. I was so chilled. Glad this is over. My own bed tonight!

Good compromise, MOWC. Congratulations to both you and your daughter!

I had a job once where I was required to be outside in the elements and there is no weather as miserable as 40 and rain. Nothing! Even sub zero temperatures and snow is better.

Kudos to you MOWC and D. PR for her, great job. I’ll bet your own bed has never felt so good.

Yesterday 2 3 mile walks, today 3 mile run. Done and done. 40 degrees here but no rain.

Yeah!

Kudos to MOWC and SOWC. Running in 41 degree rain? I am definitely NOT worthy… :)

Congrats to your D, MOWC! That is huge. Cold rain is the worst! I love your backup plan. I know you’re going to enjoy sleeping in your own bed tonight.

My 5K is still on for tomorrow as far as I know. Low tonight is upper 40’s. Race is at 9a.m. tomorrow. I hate cold but hopefully the temp. willl be in the 50’s by 9:00.
My sister’s best friend recently finished first in her age group (50-59) in a half marathon.
She sent me her race shirt to wear for good luck :)

Must be 40ish in many places today! Congrats to those of you who braved!!!

Finally stopped raining here, gonna try for a couple miles at walk tonight .

It’s not raining outside, but I opted to go to the gym with my husband. 4.2 mi treadmill run, inverted rows, etc.
