Fewer calories and less fat, but also because it makes it so quick to prepare – just measure out 1/2 cup (= to 2 eggs) from the carton and start cooking.

busyparent – there is NO way I could eat a cold omelet! :)

I am definitely not a foodie :)

Tough run on the dreadmill. I think it was just too hot in the gym- especially after all these runs in the 20s and low 30s. I still don’t feel quite right- and I’ve been done for over an hour! 4 1/2 miles with some intervals.

Today is day 800 of the streak, though, so there is that!

That is some kind of streak, MOWC. Heck, at my age, I’m just happy to wake up 800 days in a row! :)

Rest day workout in the basement for me. Did my favorite little KB circuit. 35 lb KB.

On the left side:
6 suitcase deadlifts
6 cleans
6 squats
6 push presses

Then, repeat on the right side for one set. Rest 2 minutes and go again. I did four sets.

I “cheated”, pausing long enough for three to five deep breaths between exercises, but I did all four sets without putting the KB down. These are 3 to 3.5 minute sets, so there’s a definite cardio component. I saw heart rates of 88% of my max on the last two sets.

All in all, i’m a lot stronger on this circuit than I was when I started. At least I can do the push presses at the end. Those were real “iffy” when I first tried this circuit.

Salmon in green thai curry with brocolli, red peppers, and snow peas for dinner… Yum.

This makes me think of CJane. Nice number that 800 (day streak thus far), MOWC.

My original running mileage goal for the year was 350. I then made that my base goal and added 400-450 as a bump up goal range and 500 as a high goal. As it became apparent I was likely to hit 500 I put my next goal at 550. Went over that today. I have another goal which would have meaning for me and am considering adding a stretch goal – not impossible but, as named, would be more of a stretch for me. Yeah, I like numbers…

Way to bust the goals, Deborah! Where is CJane?

800 days ! Well done.
Can you all recommend a treadmill for purchase? Don’t want the cheapest but don’t need the best either. I would want one that can be inclined and that is about it.

Last I heard, CJANE was relaxing on a sail boat somewhere in the South Pacific.

Busyparent- I wish I could. It’s a subject of constant debate on the running forums. If you don’t spend a fair amount, you get something that is rough with too small of a bed and you hate it. People tend to toss around Precor, Lifefitness and Startac (?) as good brands. I would google it and read reviews. A used club grade treadmill is often a good option.

Treadmilldoctor.com is a great resource that has many reviews in one place, sorted by price range. They have “best buys” in each price range as well:

I used this site when I bought my treadmill way back when. Very helpful.

This is kind of cool:

Still time for Christmas with Amazon Prime two-day shipping:

Treadmill for me after a late day at work. 6 miles @ 7:30. My goal is an hour of running 4 days a week by the end of the year. Pace is less important than time spent running based on my training plan. May start using Sunday for a long slow easy of 1.5 hours starting in 2014

Busyparent, we owned a previous version of this model and (fingers crossed!) have been very happy wiht it:

Sturdy, gym quality, no stupid bells and whistles and does not stop after 60 minutes like some models. I just ran 4 miles on it.

No matter what model of treadmill you get, do not put it directly on a carpeted surface or the carpet fiber dust will clog the motor.

MOfWC, huge congrats on your streak!

I think I’d choose South Pacific sun over the chilly weather we’ve been having here the past few days, for sure. ;)

In case anyone is thinking of buying a treadmill instead of a car, the control feature for increasing and decreasing speed on this commercial grade treadmill is really nice.

Woohoo to day 800 MomWC. I’d have been resting on my laurels about 700 days ago :)

Idad, Santa sure wouldn’t LOOK the same if he got one of THOSE :)

I made out like a bandit this year in terms of second-hand treadmill and airdyne. The airdyne only ad a few miles on it as the old guy I’d bought it from had been ordered to get it by his doc for rehab and the treadmill had been inherited by a guy ho had no use for it and didn’t appreciate its true value. Mind you, I don’t know that I’d know a good treadmill from a bad one since I only use it for walking, or “wogging.” Mine’s an iFit and has incline and interval patterns. Seems sturdy and smooth enough.

^proform is the name of mine. Here’s a link…but again, I don’t know what runners are looking for. I just know I like this one as well as anything at the gym

Chuckling at Deborah’s comments…“in case anyone is thinking of buying a treadmill instead of a car”… :)

This is getting tough. It is SO cold (for here). This morning was my only option today. Work is insane. I did 2.1 miles - 20 degrees. I still don’t feel “right” since last night’s workout. Not sure what is going on. It was a clear and pretty morning- just cold as S&&T. No improvement in sight, either.

I hope you will get checked out MOWC if you continue to feel “not right” much longer. Can you not put a finger on what’s “not right”???

The bitter cold seems like it just charged in, landed and doesn’t want to go anywhere for many parts of the country.

Please be careful and wise.
