Got another hill trudge in yesterday…man was it cold!
The Xmas pounds are moving slowly…they seem sad to go I’m sure they think they need to stick around to insulate me from this interminable deep winter!

I had one shot at running today. Got up at 5:30am (18 degrees, windchill of 7) and drove to the gym- miraculously, with everything I needed for work (clothes, shoes, etc). 6.2 dreadmill miles of low HR (well, for the most part except when I got bored and jacked up the incline or pace). I now know all the news there is to know, having watched it about 6 times… Got a green juice drink at the snack bar (these are really good and are made from scratch with all veggies and fruit) and the went through the Dunkin Donuts drive-through (nod to MiamiDAP). Oh well…

Have a safe trip (I think today) MOWC. You got up, went to the gym, packed appropriately, ran and drank a healthy drink. Then the DD. 4 out of 5 good things - that ain’t bad!!! :)

Went to a meeting this morning where 3 big plates of donuts greeted us just inside the meeting room. Big plates, big donuts. Was able to walk by them even though I LOVE a good donut. Now, if I would have had a plastic knife in my pocket and could have cut them in half or quarters, it might have been a different story…

Just trainer today. I strained a pec muscle and it hurts to breathe, let alone swim. Aargh. It is tough to get old.

I hope you feel better Lizardly.
5.5 mile outdoor walk. Cold and sunny in the Boston area today.

Thanks, abasket. I’m not above tearing donuts in half with my hands (if I were to only want a part of one…)

I travel this evening- WITH a 12 pound cat. Also, WildChild asked for his ankle weights for PT, so I have 10 pounds of lead going in the suitcase. Glad I’m relatively strong…

I am very produ to “jump start” another person. She used to be a competitive swimmer. Could not start going back to the pool after her knee surgery. We happen to belong to the same gym. She decided to join me one day and has been swimming ever since. You really cannot skip it if you start. Extremely addictive, mood elevating activity like nothing else. How do I know her? We walk together for 1 hour every day, inside or outside, we have a special designated for walking area in our building. She has been sooooo happy since then, shares with me every day, very thankful. But she is very good, she id dropping her time like crazy since she started. She said she dropped whooping 5 min. from her mile.
So, my routine is pretty much the same every day. Walking for 1 houra at luch - about 3.5 - 4 miles), 1.25 hours of swimming (1.65 miles) and weights - 10 min right afte swimming (which is much easier than weights by themselves, I just have so much more energy after I swim). I do only 6 machines, 2 sets of 10 reps on each, which brings on natural high. I know I am not going to build any muscles with this, I am just going for natural high. All together it does not work for my weight at all, which is not really a goal. My weight has been up because of my splurging on our trips. I never gain at home.
I finally figure out (fro most part) my feet cramps. Here is what has been working: cocnut water + cherries (fresh are better than frozen). I read about cherry juice for muscles and cherries do work for me. Coconut water does not work very well by itself. Most time I had cramps in a water after I have been walking at lunch time.

Lizardly, that’s no fun, breathing being one of those necessary activities and all. Hope you feel better soon.

MOWC, safe travels.

Workout this morning: stretch/core torture/strength. Feline especially attentive as it was near snack time.

MOWC:

Flying with ankles weights AND a cat? You deserve Dunkin Donuts! :)

KMC:

Glad you got out on your hill. I might sneak out tomorrow for a bit, but with a predicted high of 14 degrees, it won’t be for a long jaunt.

abasket:

Congratulations on walking past the plates of donuts. I have to fight that temptation standing at the counter to get coffee in DD. It’s not easy!

miami:

Sounds like you are still going great guns on the exercise with all the walking and swimming and weights. You can built muscle on those machines. Just keep pressing to add resistance.

lizardly:

Ouch.

^just came back from our walking. My partner called me a beast. I said that I actually slow down for her because I have lost many partners before since they could not keep up. But we did better today. She does not even know what is ahead, I am just building her up. But she is a great great swimmer, I am envious> But she could not do my weights either, she did about 1/2 of weight on each of the 6 machines. This is normal, I increase a lot if I go after some lady and sometime I increase even after guys (not body building type). I am nacient, I will not build anything any more, I just want my high.

“I travel this evening- WITH a 12 pound cat. Also, WildChild asked for his ankle weights for PT, so I have 10 pounds of lead going in the suitcase.”

The TSA will be amused. I say MOfWC you deserve a whole cake for doing that! Safe travels!

I am trying to figure out when and how to squeeze my run into the today’s crazy busy schedule. I seem to be getting good at doing my runs so late in the evening… looks like I am training for the Stockholm marathon! ;)

And we all know how charming an “amused” TSA agent can be… :)

^^^ LOL. Post of the day. I’m really a little nervous about the travel. It is going to be bitter cold when I land and I have to navigate the cat/luggage etc to the rental car shuttle, then into Center City Philadelphia. Then I have to get the weights, cat food and other “take to WildChild” items out of the suitcase, sneak the cat up to the 16th floor apartment (with his help), and eventually make the 45 minute drive out to the suburbs. All this after an 8pm (fingers crossed) landing.

PT exercises, 20 minutes NuStep and 20 minutes on the track.

Motivating song - Wish You Were Here (Pink Floyd)

All I could think about today were doughnuts - wonder why? Instead of a doughnut binge, headed for the treadmill. 6.35 miles. Bitter cold here! Even the puppies don’t like it.

Save travels, MOWC.

Donuts or treadmill - that’s a toughie!!! ;)

Teri , I like seeing your motivating songs.

abasket - some days they’re motivating because the tempo matches my steps and somedays they’re motivating because of the words and/or memories from when the song was popular.

I’ve been a slug for the last 5 days. I have a miserable cold–probably got it on the flight to the to the West Coast–and I haven’t felt like exercising at all. Tomorrow, I’m going to try and use the guest pass I purchased for a gym nearby.

What does everyone do, when they do too much?
I overworked my butt & I can hardly walk. I kind of took it easy today, but I want to be back out there tomorrow.
