Took yesterday off . Legs felt fresh today . 6 miles treadmill. Started at 8:30 and increased pace each mile. Last mile started at 6;30 and ran last .25 at 5:00.

There are three versions of Pastene Italian Plum Tomatoes in identical cans at my grocery store: whole, ground, and puree. Is it a sign of dementia that I have, never once, since turning 50, actually come home with the version I thought I was buying? :)

In any case, I’m eating dinner to die for. Jacques and Julia’s Mediterranean Seafood Stew with saffron. Haddock, salmon, and littleneck clams in the shell… Yum… Can’t wait to log this one.

Keep on truckin’. I did have dessert tonight. Blackberries. Yuummm. Still keeping my sugar consumption in check. Lustig would be pleased. This seafood stew was a great meal for food tracking. Close to a pound of seafood, so tons of protein, very low fat, very low carb, pretty low calorie.

5.1 miles on the treadmill. After a long day at work! Steak and baby Chinese cabbages for dinner. Yum.

idad, when are you going to write us that cookbook, huh?

Have an early meeting, so its dreadmill in the dark for me this a.m.

MomWC, hope your trip went smoothly…because it sounded like it had the makings for sitcom fodder :)

Thanks. It went smoothly. Had an empty seat next to me on the plane so I had room to reach down and pet kitty in his carrier. Walked directly lit of baggage claim onto the rental car shuttle (which NEVER happens in Phila). Navigated into Center City (that part wasn’t fun), got parked and WildChild came down from the 16th floor to get kitty and the weights. We showed kitty the box and food and he disappeared under the bed. I ate sushi, admired the set up of bikes and treadmill in the new apartment and made it to the suburbs. Their cardio setup is something to behold. Girlfriend likes the new treadmill and said it is really quiet. It’s the same one I’m getting.

It is so darn cold. I’m still figuring out whether I dare try to run on the snowy trail, which would be beautiful, or if it would be stupid.

I’d buy idad’s cookbook. I already use his recipe for brussel sprouts!

The snow around here is not very slippery since it never did its usual thaw and freeze thing. The trail might be okay.

I’m going to go brave the cold and ice and do a very short hike in a nearby state park I’ve been wanting to check out. It’s 6 degrees here in the southern part of NH. Supposed to warm up to 12 this afternoon. There’s a bit of snow on top of the ice, so we’ll see.

It’s -9 in Lincoln. -18 on Mt. Washington. Too cold for me to head to the mountains…

Be careful - that’s still pretty cold. We are dropping deeper into the deep freeze…and there is no end in sight!!!

I saw question:“Donuts or treadmill”. I love donuts and hate treadmill. In fact, I cannot walk on treadmill at all. When we have donuts in the office, I grab at least 2 -3. I have never ever gained at home and many times have lost consuming donuts (I know they are bad food), because I am simply not hungry for the rest of the if I have donuts. I would not suggest the “donut” diet, but they will not affect your weight. My weight goes up only during vacations. But the food is sooo good there, there is no point to watch intake. I basically have hard time getting up after every meal and usually gain at least 7 lbs in 2 weeks on resort. I also exercise whole tons on vacations, but I do not think of it as an exercise, just having nice time on a beach.

Miami, you are very lucky. I love doughnuts. If I eat them though, it triggers a huge urge to eat everything in sight. I simply can’t stop eating. I don’t think of foods as good or bad, but I know doughnuts are something it’s better for me to avoid (at least most of the time).

Someone spread out a monolayer of individually wrapped Costco muffins on the table in the kitchen. 600 calories each!!! 4 muffins = 1 marathon. LOL

^These are also very good!! Somebody at work has wrapped them, they are usually on a tray of 6. I buy them for the office for my B-day treat. They dissapper in no time, especially the chocolate ones.

But, a muffin is healthy, right? That’s what Starbucks wants you think, anyway…

The nice thing about a no sugar, no grains approach is that muffins and doughnuts are simply not an option. I went with bacon and eggs for breakfast.

Something as heavy as a muffin simply doesn’t appeal to me in the morning. I am happy with fruit sprinkled with nuts or a 1/2 cup cereal with berries/nuts. The only indulgence I allow myself once in a great while is an Egg McMuffin from McDonalds. I used to eat them in grad school and obviously grew wiser with age. About 3 times a year I indulge and savor every morsel.

Honestly, I consider those muffins dessert. And if I should indulge, 1/2 of one is the limit. The " a muffin is healthy" mentality SLAYS me!!!

I had a half (the smaller half, the top with the cheese!) of a Panera Asiago bagel this morning with a soft egg and felt like it was a big splurge.

Freezing in the office again today. Can’t wait to go sweat in the gym and warm up!!

An egg mcmuffin, at least conceptually, is a pretty healthy breakfast. The egg is healthy. The Canadian bacon is healthy. Cheese is healthy, although cheddar or something would be better than the sliced cheese food. The English muffin is OK.

I admit to homemade McMuffins- Fiber One English muffin, egg fried with Pam, Canadian bacon and cheese (the real kind). Around 270 calories and very satisfying. I eat those probably 3 times a week. No cereal in a long time, other than steel cut oatmeal occasionally.

Our office is loaded with Costco goodies. I have to say that I think they look better than they taste most of the time!

Sabaray, I think that is a great breakfast. I need breakfast to be of substance (no half grapefruit alone for me!!!) - I make them at home too. Add fresh tomato in the summer - yum!!!

Salmon benedict for me. Sounds very yummy right now. Haven’t had it in a while.
