Speaking of dropping a few pounds, after my excitement at Monday’s weigh-in, I promptly gained 1.8 pounds on Tuesday. The coconut milk in my Thai curry seems like it’s guaranteed to add an instant couple pounds.

Good news, though. The scale had turned south again and today I’m at the lowest weight since I bought Halloween candy in 2012. At least for today, I’m below my “five pound window”. I’ve put on enough muscle since then, that I really wasn’t sure I could get below 160, so I’m a little amazed that the food tracking is working like this. I have a few pair of thermometer pants that fit better than they did in 2012, so I’d say I’ve traded a little body fat for muscle. Definitely fits and starts, ups and downs, but the overall trend has been a slow weight loss.

On the 7 day average, I’m down 6 pounds since I said “no mas” right after New Years. It’s not been a big struggle to lay off the snacks a bit, so I’ll probably keep at it for another week or two and see what happens. I don’t expect the scale to keep going down, but I would love to solidify the gains.

iDad= You are so incredibly disciplined, and the rewards come with that! Way to go.
I’m still not where I want to be- up about 3 pounds, which doesn’t sound like much but at my size it isn’t something I want to keep. I just keep wanting to eat- and with so many social and business occasions, I haven’t done what I need to do.

3.5 miles on my basement treadmill this morning. 58 degrees. I really think this is a good treadmill, but it’s making me wonder if the gym treadmills were not calibrated all that correctly. Mine seems a lot “faster”- which is to say that my pace has to be quite slow to keep my HR down. I think the Landis machines are supposed to be really well-calibrated at the factory, so I think the problem is with my legs. I’m quite a bit slower than I am outside, even in comparison to my other treadmill runs. Off to Georgia now.

TRX and heavy weights with the trainer and then went to a yoga class–yoga was really hot and seemed especially hard today. Maybe it was because it was a longer class than I normally take.

I’d be in big trouble with all the temptations of conference buffets and so forth that you have been tempted by. I am fortunate to be able to control what comes in the house, so the only discipline is not digging into the can of salted cashews in the cupboard for hiking fuel.

The tracking gives just a little positive reward for “not snacking” to offset the reward for “snacking”… Surprisingly, I’ve not really been dying of hunger.

I’m trying to do these workouts at a little faster pace. Finished this one in 58 minutes, which was just about perfect. The box steps with two 30 lb DBs continue to kick my butt. Easy exercise to do, just step up, leave that leg on the bench, and step down with the other leg, 10 reps on one leg then 10 on the other. But it is tough one when you start loading it heavy like a farmers walk. 60 lbs is enough to get my heart rate up…

Kind of splurged on carbs today with Progresso Beef Barley Soup (doctored up with bits of pot roast and veggies) for lunch and a Bobby Flay inspired dinner: Sauteed jumbo shrimp around a pile of spring mix salad, all tossed with a lime scallion olive oil blender vinaigrette that had (gasp) 1.5 tsp of sugar in it (which I ate while watching Robert Lustig harangue about sugar!) At least I ate it with a mountain of fiber…

5.2 miles, and then I had to bag the rest of my run to join a conference call. Ugh.
Played around with that body weight simulator. I need to eat roughly 2000 calories a day to maintain my current weight. That I can do! :)

Moving day is finally here, and the packing/dumpstering didnt kill me exactly!
Can I interest anyone in coming over for a great session of farmer’s carry(s)? I only need about 12 of ya should have it nailed in about 15 hours!

Just think of all the calories you’ll burn!

What? no takers? ;( Dang!

In other news, its -7. Hi ho. Praying the truck can get up the hill…full report tomorrow.

Well, Sea Island is flat! (no surprise) The resort gave me a map for running and my shuttle driver helped, too. I did manage to make a “mistake” and wound up in a gated community for about half the run instead of having to double back on a busier road. It really wasn’t clear where I was to go, but I sure made the right choice. No one ran me off. It was very beautiful. Big homes and mossy oak trees. 8.1 miles done. My legs are still tried from Sat race and getting used to my treadmill. 37-45 degrees and I overdressed somewhat in the new Marmot fleece, but it wasn’t too bad.

MOWC: I thought the trails were confusing at The Cloister, which was why I headed out to the beach and just did a long out and back walk. It is a beautiful spot–sounds like you had a good run despite the gated community glitch.

KMC: hope your move worked out OK–I think moving is always stressful.

I did a 4.5 mile walk today–it was 21 degrees. We did a route with a fair number of hills (I really slow up on the hills) so our pace was about 17 minutes per mile. My walking partner used her Map my Walk app., which I love. Even though it was pretty cold, I got hot and ended up stuffing my gloves into my down vest.
