I can come up with about 800 or maybe 900 mg from my diet. That’s probably enough, but it is short of the recommended 1200 mg daily for people over 50. Probably not a big deal, but easy and cheap to address. Drink a glass of milk. Chew a couple of TUMS, drink mineral water, or take a calcium pill.

Wow. That Ortho-Core vitamin is $100 for a 360 tablets and you are supposed to take 6 a day.
That’s $600 a year for a multivitamin. I think I’ll stick with the $15 brand… Think of all the fitness clothes that would buy! Heck, there are persuasive arguments that even $15 spent on a multivitamin is $15 flushed down the drain!
Like I said before, no one really needs a full dose if you eat food. I take 2/day, so yeah, around $200/year.

To me it is worth it. It is a personal choice, made after doing a lot of research.

Make sure you are not messing up your zinc/copper ratio. And be aware that calcium and magnesium can compete with each other for absorption when taken in sufficiently large amounts.

I’ll be a 43% of daily recommended on Magnesium (before food). That will probably put me over on hiking days when I eat a bunch of salted nuts, but should not generally be a problem. Most days, I’ll still probably be under the RDA.

Zinc is one I probably don’t need to supplement at all. I’ll be at 106% of zinc (before food), so I’ll end up high on days that I have beef, pork, or chicken. But, the 16 mg a day from supplements is well short of the common safe doses of 100 mg or ever 150 mg. Even if I ate a pound of beef, that would only be an additional 50 mg.

Skipped water class today - had to be somewhere right after it would have been over, giving me no time to shower. Went to the gym after my appointment - did PT exercises and 35 minutes on the NuStep.

Yes, that is Ragdoll cat Willie Nelson, who is the family’s first Ragdoll and is now 9 years old. He’s gorgeous. There are now 5 more Ragdolls between us and our kids.

Yes. The dreaded Airdyne intervals. The dreaded mile intervals. No attempt at new PRs, just trying to get through them as painlessly as possible. Saw a heart rate of 95% of my max on the last interval, so I guess I get credit for decent workout! And, I got to wear shorts and a t-shirt, even though it’s 13 degrees outside…

Jacques and Julia’s Mediterranean Seafood Stew for dinner. Whipping up a new batch for the freezer.

That ice Is dreadful MOWC. Hopefully you will be tod of it soon. We had a serious bout of it where our sidewalks and roads were pretty much fully impaired for 3 weeks. Still spots that are really bad.

With as much as I’ve spent on down jackets for hiking, I’m certainly not going to begrudge somebody $200 for vitamins! Just a little rich for my blood.

My grocery store had generic TUMS calcium chewable tabs. Regular strength, 200 mg of calcium, 150 for $2.99. So two of those a day for 400 mg of calcium, 75 days for $3. Pretty cheap.

Just some push-ups and core stuff for me today.

As a person who blew a small fortune on fancy Lulu stuff, I too should not be criticizing anyone who chooses to spend their money on fancy vitamins! :)
