4.1 miles in Henderson, NV this am. Beautiful sunrise, but the climbs and the altitude were tough. Good run, though. I wanted to do a little more this afternoon to get 155 for the month, so I went back out. Wind gusts up to 35mph and it was horrible. I almost couldn’t keep my footing. I eked out the 1.6 miles I needed- barely. Climbed up a hill and did the iDad “pant” at the top. Got back and realized I have 4999.9 miles in my stupid streak! I’m not sure I could have stood one more tenth in that wind anyway, so I guess tomorrow I hit 5000 miles on day 912.

Wow! Congrats! I think 4999.9 sounds cooler than 5000. ;)

4999.9 sounds pretty impressive. That’s about what I put on my car in a year! :)

Dreaded Airdyne intervals for me. 1 mile intervals. I’m recovering to 70% of my max heart rate, so the intervals take right at 3 minutes with 1 minute 20 seconds recovery after the first one and 1 minute 55 seconds after the second and third intervals. I pushed a little harder today and saw 94% of my max heart rate on the third interval. I did the panting like a dog thing, too!

Oysters on the half shell and my world famous blue cheese salad for dinner. I’m still doing my best to eat right. The scale has been stalled for a couple of weeks, but shows signs of maybe inching down some more. We’ll see.

What’s in that blue cheese salad?? It’s got blue cheese so it’s got to be good!!

Not only am I impressed at the 4999.9, but more impressed that you didn’t round off!!! :)

Not a run day, but it was so gorgeous I just had to get out again. Two hours of gardening after work followed by a leisurely 2 mile run. Yeah spring!!!

Approximately:

Dressing (whisked in bottom of bowl)

2 TBS extra virgin olive oil
2 TBS white wine vinegar
2 TBS white balsamic vinegar
1 TSP dijon mustard
1 TSP minced garlic
Salt
Pepper
1 oz blue cheese (crumbled)

Dumped on top of dressing and thoroughly tossed with a spoon:

9 oz romaine
2 oz spring mix
1/3 Vidalia onion
1 carrot
1/2 small red bell pepper
2 large celery stalks
24 g garlic and butter croutons

Sounds heavenly!! I want to take away some of the croutons and add a few olives. :)

Olives would be good. Sun-dried tomatoes are a nice addition, too. Sometimes a little raw broccoli or snow peas.

10.3 miles yesterday. I tried out a new canyon trail and it was beautiful, but hard. Lots of hills and a bit windy. My legs are tired today.

Deb, how’s your husband doing?

Lizardly, you’ll have a blast at your 5k!

I’ve been a sun-dried tomato addict lately. Bought a Costco sized jar (at Costco) of some organic sundried that are DELICIOUS! A little whole wheat pasta with the tomatos and some pesto and a sprinkle of parmesean - yummo!

There’s no place like home- except I’m not there… 4.5 miles this morning in terrible wind here in Henderson, NV. I didn’t have to head into it for too long, but it was blowing me sideways for most of the rest. Gusts up to 41mph. Otherwise, 52-54 and sunny. Dry,dry, dry, too. And all uphill- I swear! If I lived here- which would never happen- running would be really tough. Flying to LA today for the final leg of this journey. Tomorrow morning’s run may be in the dark and may not be the safest area, so it will be short.

Trainer and swim, spin to follow. A big day!

Did a hips and hamstrings yoga class yesterday. Worked with my trainer today–mix of TRX (planks, squats, lunges) and heavy weights (leg press, chest press, lat pull down and farmer walk). Afterwards, I did 60 minutes on the elliptical trainer.

Good work all - MOWC, be careful in the morning!! Happy 5000+!!!

I think I brought the nasty weather with me to SF! 45 degrees and rain. The hotel treadmill looks really attractive at this moment. :)

MOfWC, be careful while running in LA!

H is doing good! More tired than he thought he would be. His FMLA paperwork came today and his doctor approved him for a 12 week leave. H the workaholic is having a bit of a fit. He was convinced that the doctor is going to let him go back to work after 6 weeks and he really would like to go back after 3. Since there is not much he can do he’s a little bored. Daytime tv is pretty bad lol!

Our neighborhood has a lot of retired people. Yesterday we took a walk and ran into one of our neighbors. He’s going to take H with him to lunch with all the retired guys. It will be nice to have some not together time. ;)

2.5 miles outside. Yesterday was really nice, in the 50’s but the rest of the week is high 30’s. I won’t lie, I was pretty worn out. The treadmill lulls you and outside is harder.

MOWC, your schedule exhausts me. Sounds exciting but exhausting. I bow down to you keeping the streak alive. Me, I would be inclined to sit around, eat and drink wine.

Thanks, everyone. I forgot about the 5000 mile in the streak! I was too busy hating the wind! I will be careful in LA. Supposedly it is very well lit around the perimeter of USC, which is where we are staying. We’ll see. I am not adverse to a treadmill mile at the hotel if I don’t think it looks OK. I fly home late tomorrow night.

I seriously think this should be re-titled the diet/exercise and weather report! I had to go outside after lunch. Seriously it is 30 with a brisk wind and snow. I am so over this. I know this too will pass but when lol!

Geez, Deb. Not good! People who exercise or spend time outdoors are weather-obsessed!

I got a a Garmin Vivofit to track my steps during my non-running life. It will tell me when to get off my butt and move! It came to my friend’s house for me today, so I synced it up with Garmin Connect and my iPhone and have it on. It’s purple and is going to look lovely with my business attire, but according to the WSJ the fitness bands are the latest executive accessory. Just dealing with the airport has been 1565 steps! I didn’t really need another piece of data over which to obsess…

Haha - I SOOOO am tempted to get a similar gadget.

MOWC: let me know if you like the Garmin Vivofit. I got a Polar Loop activity tracker about a month ago and I’m not crazy about it. It’s difficult to turn on–you have to keep tapping it to get the data to come up. It was easy to sync to my iPhone, but the one thing that’s annoying about that is you can’t easily see the inactivity alert unless you’re looking at the app on the iPhone. I got this monitor because it was compatible with the Polar H7 heart rate sensor, which I already had. If I buy another gadget I think my husband will divorce me, so I’ll have to be content with this one, but I’d love to hear how the Vivofit works for you.
