Blankmind, some days, I hate running, too, like today. Mother Nature sent me a very generous gift last night, and oh dear, I was really crawling out of bed this morning. If it weren’t for the beautiful sunshine, I would have been really cranky and slow. But the run is done. Bicyclists were on the trail in higher than normal quantities, but they were all uber polite and friendly. I did ran - literally!! - into one ass who decided to run on the opposite side of the trail ignoring all local traffic rules. Dude! This is NOT India. I swerved at the last second, and he had the nerve to yell at me and swear. Not cool. On the way back, I ran into him again, and no surprise, the idiot was running on the wrong side. This time, however, he was huffing and puffing in his long tights and long sleeved sweatshirt and, to my surprise, he stepped aside without a peep. Lol. He must have ran into that big dude whom I passed while I was heading out. Good, because I was ready to smash into him. :D

BB, are you getting rid of the stumps?
They are great for carving out & planting red hucklelberry in.
I skipped swimming today, cause H has my car, but Ive gotten my time in the garden up to two hours, plus I took the dog for a walk & to the dog park.
Just had a little setback when a mastiff & a lab barreled into my right knee ( the one with the implant), but while it is a touch swollen, it seems to be ok- next month it will be a year since the replacement.

That’s funny, BB. Glad you gave him hell!

I was thinking about the issue of working out on trips. Part of my success is that I am just obsessive about it. Another part is that I REALLY need it mentally. Another part is that sometimes you have to be really selfish and put that above something someone else might want to do. I don’t have a problem with being selfish, but I know some people do. When I traveled with my CEO and EVP last November to Michigan where I had NO control over our schedule and was certainly not in a position to be selfish, I simply had to get my butt out of bed REALLY early and do what I needed to do. Skipping out on a meal or meeting time was not an option. Running is usually the easiest thing to do when traveling. There can be challenges- broken or busy treadmills, unsafe neighborhoods or traffic etc, but usually there is a solution.

Back when I REALLY traveled a lot on business, a co-worker and I would go to the local gym in whatever town we were in and tell them we were being relocated to that town and would like to try out their gym for a day or two. We were always allowed in! This was before the days of myriad guest passes on the internet.

One of the things I love about my TRX rig is its portability. It can be used virtually anywhere. I’ve rigged it to hotel doors, tree limbs, spiral staircases, even sailboat halyards when traveling or on vacation. It doesn’t give you a cardio workout like running does but for on the go resistance and core training, it’s tough to beat. Now, you may get strange looks when you exit your hotel room after grunting for 40 minutes behind a closed door, but oh well!

Michael- if you stay at the pay by the hour places, no one would question the grunting!
:">

Other than to marvel that it lasted for 40 minutes lol!

Sprayed my keyboard with coffee from laughing at the last couple of posts! :D

I get by with push-ups and planks and wall sits and all the other marvelous exercises that do not require special equipment when the hotel’s exercise room sucks or when I do not have any time for a long run outside (or, like in some places, where there are NO sidewalks, just narrow 45 mph roads). I once even tried to use a desk lamp as my “dumbbell” for goblet squats. :)

Paging idad… Hope all is ok.

It looks like everyone is snowed in, again!

Yes. Just being a slug, watching the Masters all weekend and doing taxes this evening. No snow here. I’ve got my eye on some hiking later this week. I’ve been doing the bug spray treatment on a couple items of clothing every day. Shirts and caps yesterday. Hiking pants today.

Well, Saturday I was out chopping wood in a sleeveless tank marveling that there were mosquitos out already and this morning there’s literally an inch or two of snow on the ground. Seriously, I am so done with this weather.
On the bright side, the temps will have killed the Mosquitos ;)

I may have been a little premature putting the snowshoes away, getting out the aquajogging gear, and calling the pool guys to open next week, ya think?

Ahh, taxes! That’s like coming down with a bad case of flu. My sympathies.
Efiled last night as well. Had plans to go for a run this morning, but stayed up too late and woke up later than planned. Now it is a mad dash after the bus! :)

Kmcmom, fingers crossed that the snow will wipe out the buggers!

Three inches of snow on our deck this morning. It’s TAX day, not SNOW day!!! The deck must have cooled down faster thus accumulating EVERY drop of snow. The sidewalks and drives are clear and the grass is an inchish of snow. It will melt by tomorrow, but in the meantime, I’m glad that I pushed myself to get out on the pavement last night after coming home from out of town - won’t worry about exercising outside today!!

My condolences on the snow. We have soaking rain, but temps in the balmy 60s, although the forecast does call for perhaps a little wet snow tonight.

Back to the gym today!! It felt great; did lots of heavy weights plus some goblet squats, walking lunges with weights, and ropes. Finished with a hour on the elliptical. Set a personal record today–even surprised my trainer–I did 3 sets of leg presses (12, 10, 8) at 355 pounds (not a typo). My trainer made an error while tallying up the weights that she added to the leg press machine! I knew it was a lot heavier–didn’t realize how much (I had been at 300 pounds). Yea me!!

BB–hope you are getting excited about Boston. I’d cheer you on if I was going to be in town. Weather today is warm–it’s in the 60s and rainy . It’s going to get cold again tomorrow morning (38-40).

As a result of my frequent walks all over my building in order to accumulate steps on my Vivofit, I have discovered some new candy bowls. I suspect this isn’t the point…

Cold in Tennessee today with some snow flurries this morning. I’m running after work- it’s better outside now, but not great. Strong wind and a chilly-feeling 45 degrees.

Forget steps. The only thing that would have helped me would have been some kind of vivofit that tracked how many Red Twizzlers I ate.

Lol’ing over the walking candy bowl traps!!!

I’m surrounded by people who apparently bring bottomless bags of candy and dump them in the dishes on their cube walls. I dip into my bag of beef jerky whenever I feel the urge to grab a candy.
And the urge dissipates.

Beef jerky?? I honestly have never tried it!! Satisfying ??

Bunsen- that’s how it is at my work, too. About every 100 steps I can locate a candy bowl in someone’s cube! Sometimes I duck in and grab a piece!

I was planning 5 miles after work on the path but I got tied up at work. Got home and was NOT feeling like doing anything (ran a mile this morning so the streak was safe), but I went down to the treadmill and actually felt pretty good. There was a cute bunny outside the window for most of my run. 3 1/2 miles done.
