HALT
Is this last 4 day mini binge because I am Hungry, Angry/Anxious, Lonely or Tired?
Time to write every morsel, solid or liquid, down again and halt this eating.

Go for it Busyparent!!! Sub in some exercise for angry/anxious, some better food choices for hungry or committ to a group class or walk with a neighbor so you won’t be lonely and can be a good kind of tired!!!

Good job, busyparent. Stopping a mini-binge at the four day mark is the way to go. Perfection is unobtainable. The key is not allowing it to become a way of life!

Yes, good for you. I was fighting with my husband last week and went seven days!

Did a 2-miles walk today on a walking/running path near my daughter’s house in Chapel Hill. She showed me a hiking trail–mostly uphill to start that links back to the path. I’ll give it a try while I’m here.

I’m worried because my luggage didn’t make it, but my H’s did. It was a direct flight from Boston!! Where the heck could it have gone??

Have a great race BB!

I don’t want to worry you, Bromfield, but my brother in law’s bag (direct SW flight from Ft. Meyers to PHL) was lost on January 2 and didn’t show up (after SW paid them for it) for SIX WEEKS. It showed up in Dallas. There is no telling. Inexplicably, my sister had stuck some lettuce in the bag that was left over from their condo in Florida. (Who does that, really?) Thankfully, someone had removed the lettuce during the 6 weeks the bag was traveling alone.

Chapel Hill… What a nice town! Too bad kiddo chose to attend a grad program in Baltimore. Hope your luggage will surface soon. And thanks for the good luck wishes. :)

My goal today is to avoid the Costco -sized muffins in the kitchen, 600 calories apiece.

Bunsen- I found one of my old Boston Marathon pictures from 1981 or 82 and put it on facebook. If it wasn’t such a pain to link pictures here, I would do it. I’m so excited about your race!

Well, at least it was sunny! Best hiking day of the week. Well, tomorrow might be better, but I’m going to a [Joan Osborne](<a href=“Joan Osborne: What becomes of the broken hearted? - YouTube”>Joan Osborne: What becomes of the broken hearted? - YouTube) concert. So, I filled the backpack, charged the battery in the video cam, and headed for a local state park with great hiking, halfway between Manchester and Portsmouth. One of the few places that it’s just a nightmare of melting snow and ice. Conditions in the mountains sound wretched.

Nice weather, but a little chillier than I would have liked. Right around 40 degrees with a brisk wind. Would have been nice about 10 degrees warmer, but I can’t complain. It wasn’t 11 degrees!

Did a [loop trail](Photobucket | Make your memories fun!) up and over a small mountain that I hiked in the snow back in February. I got smart and did it clockwise this time, so the climb to the top of the little mountain was the FIRST mile and a half, instead of 3 miles into the hike. The whole loop was just over 6 miles, up from 5.25 miles last time because this new-fangled GPS watch can record 3D distance, taking into account the added distance of climbing and descending. Now, I understand the slow pace on a lot of these mountain hikes. It’s not just the huffin’ and puffin’. It’s actually farther.

This is a great little park for hiking and snow shoeing. It was nice to see it without the snow, although I did get caught out by one little stretch of solid ice on the north side with no sun exposure. I stuck the microspikes in the backpack at the last minute and stopped to put them on for all of a few hundred yards. It would have been very tough to get down this stretch without them. Lots of cool stuff. An old microwave communications reflector. Massive rock cliffs. Glacial boulders the size of houses. Lakes, etc. All in all, a pretty darn nice way to get a little exercise.

And, of course, I took another stab at putting together a YouTube video. I even went to great lengths to find some music that YouTube didn’t slap my wrist over – from an obscure 1993 CD, [Superpinkymandy, released only in Japan with (according to wiki), just 5000 copies produced.

Pawtuckaway hike YouTube video](Superpinkymandy - Wikipedia)

As usual, there’s a full-screen high-def option on the video.

Looks like a nice hike, idad.
My own hill is nicely melted now. Some pretty big limbs down from a storm and the trail’s a bit of a mess though. I have half a mind to hide some Easter eggs up there to coerce my niece and nephew to clear the trail this weekend ;)

Then again, in terms of the exercise fairy, I assume I’d get a good burn credit it I just combined some speed hiking with trail clearing…

Well, I might be crazy, but I scheduled the pool guys to open up Tuesday. The gas company presumably loves when I do things like this, because ya know I won’t be able to resist cranking up the heat for an early inaugural swim ;)

t-3. :)

5.14 miles in my new run/walk/run routine. Pretty worn out lol!

Good luck BB! I’ll be on your virtual cheer squad! So exciting!

Deb that’s awesome!! Do you have a specific pattern or Just what moves you at the time???

T-3 . If that =what I think it does, so exciting - counting down!!

Abasket, I downloaded an app on my phone. I run 3 minutes/walk 1. I find that I can do that and run the same time or faster than I was doing when I tried to run the whole time. I have no idea how I will be able to pull this off in a race but it really is working for me. My HR got up to 178 so I’m working hard.

Such a great feeling when you find a method that works! Also - in my mind anyway - getting to a point that you allow yourself to make your exercise decisions based on a particular day , and what works for that day. I’ll bet that eventually you will find that after a couple 3/1’s you might skip a round a run 6/1 or 5/1 or 8/1 - or whatever your body and mind says is right for that day! Thumbs up!

Lots of people do the run/walk in races. You just have to not get carried away by the crowd and feel like you have to keep running.

deb, you can definitely do it in a race! I walked up the ginormous hill at the end of my marathon, and I’m not ashamed of it. The folks on manning the water station tried to cheer me into running, “hey, don’t give up, the finish in near - RUN!”, but I took a walking break and then got up to the top and passed the people who passed me while I was walking. Kind of the tortoise/hare situation.

MOfWC, Boston photos from the eighties - awesome. :)

Ha. When I did my run/walk 5K, the crowd was yelling “You can do it!” at most people. When I went by, they were yelling, “Are you gonna be OK?”… :)

I had my plan from doing the course a half dozen times: run 400K, walk 400K, run 400K, walk 400K. So I just stuck to my schedule… I set it up as a custom workout on the Garmin. Still have it, I think.

It was funny… even with the walking I stuck right around the same people for the whole race. They would pass me while I was walking, then I would pass them when I was running, and so on and so forth. The hardest part was stopping to walk right at the start of the race. But, that was the plan, that was what I had practiced, that’s how i knew I would finish. So, when the watch beeped, I walked.
