3.5 miles in my moon boots. :D

Oohhh… This is the film I absolutely have to see!

<a href=“In Fed Up Katie Couric Gets Behind a Film You Can't Afford Not to See | HuffPost Entertainment”>http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/5267336</a></p>

I think it might win an honorable mention at the Idad’s Film Festival. Here is the trailer, featuring some familiar stars:

Aren’t the moon boots comfy?!?! Am so happy with MOWC’s recommendation. :)

I am really happy with the Mio LINK. It is SO nice to not have that HR chest strap! It seems to work perfectly. I have a lot of stuff on my arms. Garmin, LINK, RoadID (on the other arm) and if I do a cool down walk I add the Vivofit. Lots of “jewelry”.

Very humid this am- 2.6 miles because I was slow getting out the door. Hope to do some more after work.

I really like the Mio Link also. I used it for the first time on my race. It worked great and is very comfortable.

MOWC, can we have an update on your streak?! :)

I must be a glutton for punishment! Every time I re-start exercising I end up SO sore for about a week. Mostly the soreness is from the weights, I guess. Yesterday (Day 3 of being back at the gym) was the worst. Of course it probably doesn’t help that I’ve also been doing yard work involving LOTS of bending, using a long-handled cultivator, etc. Oh well, things can only get better, right?

So the Vivofit is another activity tracker? Over a year ago I got in as one of 200 Early Bird contributors on Indiegogo for an Amiigo tracker. The pre-order price right now (shipping 7/1) is $179.00. I got one for $89.00. I should finally get it within a week. It’s a wrist band + a shoe clip, although the wrist band alone will work for things like swimming. The intriguing thing about this one is it can differentiate between activities – so it knows when I’m running, as well as when I’m lifting weights, using the Arc machine, etc. etc.

BB – that movie sounds interesting and enlightening.

The streak is at 949 days- ave. 5.5 miles a day. This year I am running 35 miles a week or less, so that average will go down. 1000 days will be a real milestone. I honestly can’t believe this thing is still going. I don’t think about it that much, surprisingly. I focus more on trying to get the roughly 35 miles in a week. When I do things like book a 6am flight for a Colorado vacation trip in August, my first thought is “how early will I have to get up to run?” Now that I have the treadmill in the house, it’s not as big a deal to get up 15 minutes early and get a mile in without going outside at 3:30 am or something!

Let us know how the Amiigo works. I am liking the Vivofit (Garmin). I hope I don’t get reported to HR for strange behavior as I take my strolls around the inside and the outside of the building. We are building an awesome new HQ building across the street which we will be moving into early fall. It will have better access to green space and a park, so I can vary the walks more. Right now I do some very repetitive walks, including up and down the rows of parked cars. I aim for 10000 plus steps a day (not counting running). One benefit is that is motivating me to take a cooldown walk after some of my runs (I put the Vivofit on for the cool down) which is a good idea and something which I usually didn’t do for time reasons. I would just hop in the car or rush back in the house.

Oh good. I’m not the only one who can be seen taking morning/lunch breaks walking out on the campus roads or in the parking lots here at work…

Definitely a celebration is needed at the 1000 day mark! 1000 days (and 949 days) is incredibly remarkable.

To me the really good thing about the streak is that it means I haven’t been too sick or injured to run in 949 days! That is very unusual for a competitive runner. I’ve had a few minor things- from falls, etc.- but nothing where I’ve been running in a boot or on crutches…

Just listened to a podcast stressing the importance of the cool down after a run. Said it was a huge factor in remaining injury free.

Well, I don’t stretch or cool down (except now I do if the Vivofit is part of it). I know I should- but I don’t. Fingers crossed- injury free for a lot of days…

One other benefit of the Vivofit is that at work I am doing MUCH better with face to face interaction. I get my butt out of the chair to go to someone’s office instead of emailing them back and forth (like we all do- even if they are 3 offices down…). I’ll say to someone “I’ll come to your office. I need some steps.” Life in 2014…

You mean you don’t text them if they are sitting next to you?

LOL. We do that in meetings…

notrichenough:

Kimball’s, huh? (Un)fortunately, I turn north from the main road in Jaffrey just before Kimballs, so I’ve never been tempted by a post-hike cone!

Here’s the Monadnock You Tube. This is such a “fun” hike. A big pile of rock with 360 degree views at the top. Yesterday was clear enough to see the Boston skyline to the southeast and the snow-covered Mt. Washington to the north.

<a href=“Mt. Monadnock - White Dot Trail - YouTube”>Mt. Monadnock - White Dot Trail - YouTube;

At 6.45 into the video, Larry the Monadnock guy makes a cameo. He’s the guy that has hiked up Monadnock every day 365 days a year for something like 20 years. You always pass him on a Monadnock hike (he’s a little faster than me!)

Nice hike, Idad. Weather looked great.

Worked with my trainer today. She had me going up/down two flights of stairs between almost every TRX move that we did (squat, lunge, back row, triceps, leg raises). I also did 5 minutes on a Matrix Stair Climber, which is many times harder than the elliptical. Finished up with 40 minutes of the elliptical.

3 mile trail run, not my best but it’s done. Got my Bluetooth headphones today. They look nice, it will be interesting to see how they preform on my “long to me” run this weekend. No cats here to chew on cords so no problems at my house.

Feeling better about my race which is 2 weeks from Saturday. Talked to someone who signed up for the half and is not ready at all. She said she might run the 10k with me instead. I don’t think that is allowed but I’m not telling her. Let her figure that out. But I am getting there and feeling stronger every day.

That’s some real rock climbing! Gorgeous.

I knew it!!! After the next marathon, if Mr B ever complains about me going shopping, I will tell him that mall walking is a perfect way to cool down that will keep me injury-free! Wow, maybe it did? To think about it, those fancy shoes I bought were cheaper than a few sessions of PT. ;)

MOfWC, although I do not have Vivofit, I noticed that I prefer to run around the building instead of emailing people. And I take the stairs all the time!
