Yes Fireandrain, I do understand that for some, “eating” calcium won’t do the trick. But I also know many people who don’t eat calcium - except for as you said, copious amount of cheese on their pizza or nachos - but don’t drink milk regularly, eat calcium rich veggies, etc and who seem to be too eager to Just pop a calcium pill.

Everyone cheer for No. 2785 at Ironman 70.3 except she lost her timing split in T1 (swim to bike transition) so we aren’t getting splits. Also had flat in 2nd mile of bike but WildChild was on the spot with replacement wheel so she only lost a minute.

Yay for her. Sounds like she has the best support team possible. =D>

I really hope that was the right emoticon to pick. I have a hard time figuring these out. I really wanted a cheerleader but didn’t see one.

Snowflake, glad you’re getting back into running and enjoying it. Late start this morning, slow and hot 3 miles. Tired this weekend, don’t want to get run down, so am taking it a bit easy.

She started the run with a big smile and WC got a good picture. He said no sign of the other fast girl who switched from pro to amateur just for this race to try to get the Kona spot. I don’t think you should be allowed to go that. Fingers crossed as we drive across TN on our way home.

I do believe she did it! 3rd place halfway through run with 7:00 pace. Dropped to 6:30 pace for 2nd half and shows that she won. Nothing shown for the other 2 girls who were ahead. Kona bound!!!

Scurrying around trying to get organized for a camping trip. NASA weather gave me the first launch window in a month, so I’m off to Bar Harbor tomorrow for a couple of days of hiking in Acadia National Park.

Salmon Thai Curry one night. Grilled rib eye steaks and aspargus the second night!

That was nerve-wracking! She was 2nd (amateur) overall and won the age group. She is thrilled. Now H and I are talking about going back to Kona with them. I think her parents might go (as they should) so there might be some lodging issues, but we’ll figure it out.

Congrats to WC’s girlfriend! What a great race. I’m going to keep all my fingers and toes crossed for her to stay healthy while training for Kona!

I’m still recovering form my cold. Hard to run when it is hard to breathe. Sigh.

iDad- the meals sound wonderful. Have a great trip and hikes. I did some running in Acadia in 2008 when I was in Bar Harbor on business. It rained the whole time, but it was still gorgeous.

I’ve been following the Bar Harbor weather for more than a month, waiting for a combination of mostly dry and warm enough to camp (i.e. not in the 30s). I think it rains there all the time. When I first moved back to NE, we rented a house on the ocean at Plum Island, MA. Gave a 4th of July bbq party and had to move it inside because it was too COLD to be outside! Looks like chance of showers on Tuesday. Mostly sunny on Wednesday. I’ve got two hikes planned, up a couple of mountains. I really don’t know what to expect, but I’m guessing it will somewhat easier than the White Mountain hiking. I’m avoiding the several cliff-hanger trails.

I found my Pertex Quantum ripstop pillowcase. Silly me. I had put it in the rubbermaid under-bed bin neatly labeled “SHEETS + PILLOWCASES”. That’s the problem with putting stuff where it belongs… the last place you would ever think to look!

Beautiful view, iDad. I love it how you know the specific brand names of your stuff. You are like a secret commercial for fitness apparel and now camping supplies.

We are heading to Martha’s Vineyard next week, so I need to plan some new running routes, plan food, and get my bike tuned up. I already paid for a rental so will have to take my chance on the weather.

Body is a little doer this morning … I think it’s the mulch shoveling, but it could also be a little of the six miler.
