Thanks! I’ll wait another couple days before doing weights.

At one point Thursday night as I was lying in bed, I kept thinking – I hate getting old, I hate getting injured, I never want to lift another weight again. I don’t think I would do well with chronic pain!

Got a Runsie for half price on eBay- new with tags, it’s a pretty colored light blue/aqua and actually really cute. I would never run in it. It’s a little tough to get on, and getting it off a sweaty body in time for any kind of bathroom stop would be impossible. It will be even cuter if I lose the weight I’ve gained.

Total fail at the gym. I tried the bike and it took 2 bikes to find one with working audio system for the TVs, and then it seemed to have a hitch in the pedals. I lasted 10 minutes and hated the seat. Tried the elliptical and decided I’m not ready for it yet and hated it anyway. Did a few weights, but the after work crowd was there and I just couldn’t seem to land on the bench or machine I needed. Gave up. Indoor exercise is going to be difficult for me right now. Will swim in the morning.

Our swim instructor brought up that race this morning, ohiopublic.
Personally, I think women who are 34 weeks pregnant should consider themselves doing great if they can get in & out of a car.
Raising the bar that high, reminds me of my mother in law admonishing me because I had my H drive me to the hospital, because she knew a woman who drove herself while she was in labor.
Which sounds stupid & dangerous. X_X

Ohio - I saw that. Amazing! I did sprint once while being about that much into my pregnancy, but that was to get away from a creep and it was, luckily, more like 200 meters.

Yay to half price Runsie. MOfWC, I feel your pain about gyms. Thank goodness for my metric treadmill - it has not been taken even though the gym was packed. ;)

Managed to pull myself out of bed early to get exercise in before work today. A rain had gone through a couple hours before and happily, the air was still a little cool and breezy. Got the run in, the dog walked, breakfast and lunch packed for work, showered and out the door with my wet curly hair by 7:30am - not too shabby!

I am enjoying my visit to Bar Harbor. When the weather is good, I really don’t think there is any place more beautiful. Last summer while on a walk, I discovered a cute little B and B on a side street right
in town. You can see the water from the front yard. I inquired about prices and discovered they were very reasonable! So this year I reserved a two-bedroom “suite” for my son and myself. $149 a night! I will restrain myself from telling the owner she could charge more.

Anyway, we are within spitting distance of the Shore Path, so I ran on it this morning. It was already warm, 68 degrees, but the ocean breeze was very cool. There are sea roses all along the path, so I enjoyed the scent, too!

Last night, we ate on the deck of a restaurant high on a hill above the town. Beautiful views of the ocean and islands. I ate too much, though. I need to stick with the fruit, protein shakes, etc., that I brought with us.

My outdoor 49.5 meter pool has lap swimming access (after you sign your life away) from 6:30-8:30am. I really need to be getting ready for work by 7, so that doesn’t give me a lot of time. I got over there about 6:20 this morning in hopes that I could get in (it’s card access and programmed) and the gate was enough ajar that I got a little bit of a head start. Beautiful morning and it’s really nice to be outside with the trees. 1325 meters long course DONE! I’m getting my swimming endurance back, but I don’t just love it. The reason I swam master’s in Dallas was that it made it so much more fun and challenging, but I can’t do that here and I can’t do 2 of the 4 strokes with this injury anyway.

MaineLonghorn that sounds AMAZING. Looking forward to the 4th weekend at our home-away-from-home near the water in a couple of days - envious of your sea roses view!!

MOWC, I give you lots of credit for (literally) diving back into swimming - not easy to jump back into a sport at that intensity/length! Raising a toast (ice cold water) to anyone who rises early to hit the sidewalk, trail or pool before most of the world gets out of bed!!!

Thanks, abasket. I HATE getting into cold water. Fortunately, this pool isn’t all that deep and is fairly warm. I think it is perfect. A more “real” swimmer than me might find it too warm. I was comfortable by 25 meters.

OK, just caught up on the last several pages of posts. Although I stand by my previous comment that I don’t foresee any runsies in MY future, the photos you linked to, MOWC, are actually pretty cute.

Cardio and weights for me this morning. There was a guy who hogged one weight machine for probably 25 minutes, which got to be a little annoying.

pizzagirl – I’m with everyone else who says 3 hours a day is too much. I know for a fact that trying to do that much would just turn me off completely to any and all exercise. That Orangetheory looks very interesting – D does CrossFit, but it seems way too intense for me. I checked the locations – there’s one in Boston, but none in RI. Perhaps in the future?

This drives me crazy. There are a lot of young people at my fitness center, and they often sit on one of the machines, do their 10 reps, and then read their phone/text for 10 minutes before doing the second set. I’ll use four other pieces of equipment before they finally move along.

And then there are those who put huge weights on a machine, use it, go off and use another piece of equipment and keep coming back to the original one. I’m never sure if I can use the machine inbetween.

What is the proper fitness club etiquette? I know they are not supposed to do these things, but I don’t feel comfortable calling them on it, either.
