Basement for me. Punched the clock, but had some really good exercises.

First time since I increased to 35 lbs that the DB snatch felt quick and strong. Best sets of neutral grip chin ups I’ve ever done. And the KB swings felt good.

Ran 6 miles tonight on trails. Will be a little sore tomorrow because the hills were killers, both up and down.

On the heart rate topic, I know my heart rate regularly hits 170 during a 5K trail race, especially when it’s hot, and sometimes goes higher on steeper up hills (185). On flats or down hill it is 150-160, but below 150 I don’t feel like I am pushing enough. When I am walking fast with some hills, I will range from 120-145, depending again how steep and long the hill is. Tonight I didn’t wear my HR monitor. My resting pulse is about 52-54 BPM. It used to be 42 when I was a real runner 20 years ago.

Maine, I agree with you on not liking hot, but I guess that is why we live in Maine and Vermont!

3.5 mile run and a repeat of some Pilates core exercises. For dinner I made egg white omelettes with sautéed spinach, mushrooms and Swiss cheese. They were well received.

jonri, the frozen shoulder can take so long to heal. Don’t ease up on doing the PT exercises and keep it moving. My left shoulder froze about three years ago. I went to PT three to four times a week for months. I remember at the beginning that it hurt so much I could not even walk quickly or sleep well. It took about six months to get it to 80 percent normal, and another two years to be where I am now–close to normal with just a little clicking. Last year I could feel my other shoulder starting to hurt and freeze, but I was so afraid of the pain and loss of mobility the first one had caused, that I kept the shoulder moving and working hard. It takes a long time, but most people get back most of their shoulder motion and the pain does go away. Good luck!

Plantmom- aren’t the hottie hot Lulu skirts great? I just have the floral print one, but I want another! I plan to wear it one of the days this weekend to watch the NJ State Tri (Sprint course Sat with WildChild and Olympic on a Sun for the girlfriend). And I can also do my walking in it. Tomorrow morning H is going to walk on the river path with me here in Philadelphia for our exercise.

Does 3 hours of standing , dancing and clapping at a concert count? Fun concert last night with all 3 of my rug rats on a picture perfect night - saw Mary Lambert (One Love with Macklemore, Matt Nathanson and Gavin Degraw. FUN!

Off my tush this morning and got a 30 minute run in before a 3+hour ride to the cottage. Have a good weekend all!!

4 mile walk with H along Schuylkill River trail (takes .6 miles through the city to get to the path). My longest walk yet. Averaged about 17:30 pace. Trail was crowded with runners, bikes and walkers. We stayed single file for a lot of it. It was a pretty morning and we saw the crew boats out on the river and walked by the boathouses for all the college and other local crew teams. So- I did something.

abasket - yes!!! I’m jealous… Mary Lambert in concert! Cool.

Speaking of cool, I’m looking forward to the weekend. The highs are supposed to be only in the low 70s tomorrow. Running weather! :)

By the way, walking with my husband wasn’t that great. He didn’t seem to realize that it might be nice to actually TALK! I might as well have had my music! He’s too used to being alone, I think. Didn’t help that we had to be single file a lot and he stayed about 3 steps behind me! So much for having company!

It’s finally been cooler here as well. Heat and humidity return for the weekend, unfortunately. Headed to C-ville today and inspired by PlantMom, am visiting the little Lulu shop there. Time to get some new running stuff.

MOWC, that sounds like walking with my H. That’s why I have the dogs- they at least pretend to listen!

MOfWC, that would be us walking, too, plus a stop every 10 yards to take a picture of something, like Canada goslings! That’s why I prefer to run along and let Mr do his thing. :)

Sabaray- that’s funny you said that. I was thinking that I have more dialogue when I walk the dog! I guess I’m used to when I used to walk with girlfriends we never shut up.

Men! :)

Seriously, the most annoying thing I see hiking is 20-something couples. The guy is always 10 yards in front, completely oblivious, and the gal is always, half running down the trail running to keep up. Guys are so stupid. You’d think they’d figure out that the scenery is better walking behind a fit 20-something gal… :)

I knew I had shrunk, but I hadn’t actually checked what I wrote down at Livestrong years ago. 2" from the chest, 3" from the hips and an astonishing 7" from the waist. No wonder I had to replace most of my wardrobe. Surprisingly I’ve lost 3 pounds in the last two weeks. I think it’s mostly because I’ve been on my feet most of the day. I don’t feel like I’m eating less. (Though our CSA started up so we are drowning in vegetables - especially greens.) I need more ideas for Swiss chard and kale! (The chard is going into a middle eastern style soup today.)

Wow. 7 inch party time for mathmom. That’s a pretty amazing transformation!

I did hot yoga (billed as mellow yoga) this morning, which was tough. Yesterday, I worked with the trainer and we did almost 25 minutes of exercises where I only worked on balance stuff. I have issues with my right leg because of a broken ankle that got infection and required removal of the hardware. The exercises were really difficult for me but I feel that if I continue to do them, it’s going to help a great deal and improve my balance. Also did lots of shoulder and core exercises, which the trainer says she’s going to help me strengthen before I start working on my bench press goal for the summer. Loved the videos you posted Idad. I like seeing that tiny woman swinging the big KB. She’s my new role model!!

mathmom, 7 inches from the waist is really impressive. Congrats!

I just did my weekly run, 6. 25 miles. I’m heading off to Cape Cod tomorrow for 2 weeks, where I always walk on the beach every day. I’m not sure where to go if I wanted to run, but I’ll figure that out when I get there. And I’ll be taking a break from weight lifting, too.

When I go hiking, I’m usually ahead as we walk up, and my husband is ahead when we walk down.

Dreaded. Airdyne. Intervals. Legs. Burning. Lungs. Burning. I hate 'em… :)

That’s great, mathmom! And nice run, fireandrain. I love to walk the beach every day when we’re there too. I also discovered that I like running on it too, if it’s not too hot.

I did a short mile plus walk this morning, and then went to the gym this afternoon for a treadmill mile jog warm-up, followed by a drop2sizes strength workout. I wore one of the skirts, MofWC, and it was great. I especially like the light rubber grippers on the short part that keep it from riding up. Very, very comfy! Saba, I hope you found something you liked on your lulu trip  I’m also curious to know if you had the opportunity to try on the runsie, lol. I still can’t believe how awkward looking it was on this old body–kind of like the man in the spoof video.

Terrific report, mathmom! Your philosophy has really paid off for you.

Only exercise for me today was retail therapy. I am sorry to disappoint, but I did not try on the Runsie. Clothes like that just present too many issues for me - namely, getting in and out of it! Not even sure if they had it - the store is a smaller one, but I did manage to walk away with a pair of the Run Times shorts and a Pace Setter skirt which I really liked. I had a really helpful SA who is training for the same marathon that I am; she recommended the tall skirt and the length is great. I like the pockets to hold gels. I can’t wait to buy more stuff. I was just super excited to not be the largest woman in the store!
