Off the low hr stuff and working towards running some fast tempo again. 7 miles on the treadmill. First mile at 9:00 . Miles 2-4 @8:30. Mile 5@7:30, Mile 6 @6:30. Mile 7 @12:30. Only 10 bpm variance 153-163 hr on miles 1-5 . Mile 6 got up to 173 bpm. Think max is 182? Might test it on some treadmill incline running this week. We went from summer to winter this past weekend. Hate rainy cold weather running . Legs are sore from ramping up leg speed . Think I should avoid running two days in a row and spin. Or swim on alternate days .

Ohio, that sounds like a good plan - alternating running and non-running days.

We are havig an interesting streak of nice, dry weather. Today was almost too hot for running - temperatures touched 78 degrees! 3.6 miles. Still looking for marathons. My friend said I should run the Stockholm marathon. It sounded like fun until I remembered the cobblestone-lined alleys. Yikes.

Basement for me. Rear foot elevated split squats, chin ups, KB swings, alternating DB bench press. Nice solid workout.

Getting ready for my final camping trip of the year. Campground in New England all close after Columbus Day, except for some of the State and National Parks. Lows are expected in the 30s, which pretty much my limit! I’ve got a new swoopy [MSR ZING wing tarp](<a href=“- YouTube”>- YouTube) that I want to try out!

Happy trails, idad.
Sabaray, hope you’re feeling better. I seem to be constantly narrowly escaping a slip up on the hill.

Yesterday, got tangled up climbing over a stupid free that was downed in the storm directly across the mouth of my trail. I should have just stopped and gone back to get the chain saw, but I was running late and wanted to get my walk in. Today maybe I’ll have to forfeit – early meeting and its too dark for chainsaws at the moment!

That onion app is hilarious ;)

PG, mega credit to you not only for 3 classes in one day, but for getting up for one that starts at 6am and then - even harder IMO - for getting back out for a class from 8:30-9:30 - at night, right???

Horrible travel day. I think Hawaii is something that should only happen if you live on the west coast. 2 of the 4 bikes the kids brought were broken by TSA, including Em’s tri bike. One case had some of the padding totally removed. I think Phila TSA does this on purpose.

Our flight from Houston to Honolulu was 2 hours late due to a United problem so we were on a packed 777 for 10 hours. My exercise was walking to the bathroom. Missed connection to Kona and next available seats were Wednesday! No help from United. We scrambled and got seats to Hilo and drove 2 hours in scary dark last night over to Kona. Upcharge on rental car for changing to Hilo was $600. I was awake over 24 hours and then only slept 3 hours. No luggage. I think it’s at Kona airport but it was closed up by the time we got there last night. I have no running stuff, so I guess it’s another day off. I took heroic measures to save my expensive bone density med which was packed in a case with ice packs that, of course, thawed due to the huge delay. I poured ice from Starbucks in the case. All in all, a horrible day, but we’re here and safe.

^^^Rest, recover, and have a good time!

OMG. What a nightmare. I hope the bike fixable in time for the competition. Please get some rest, MOfWC.

We are having unseasonably warm temps in Dallas. It will get up to 93 degrees today (which probably means 95 around 5pm) and stays in the upper 80’s until Saturday, when it will go down to lower 80s. I’m ready for a fall which doesn’t want to arrive. But at least it will be cool in the mornings, which is when I usually exercise.

Hope y’all get some relief as well, though I’d certainly trade with you!

Wow, MOWC that definitely qualifies as a horrible travel day (and night). WTH on the bikes?! I assume they can be fixed? Hoping today brings some better news, some luggage and some rest. What day is the competition???

“PG, mega credit to you not only for 3 classes in one day, but for getting up for one that starts at 6am and then - even harder IMO - for getting back out for a class from 8:30-9:30 - at night, right???”

Honestly? I do pilates 2 mornings at 6 am and work out with a weight-trainer 2 mornings at 5:30 am – and the hardest part is, seriously, convincing myself to get out of bed instead of send a text saying that I can’t come.

The 8:30 pm yoga is a candlelight class, so I snooze away after final savasana :-)

Well, yeah, the hardest part would be getting out of the bed to go - once I’m there I’m fine!

Does anyone here rely on DVD’s or some form of screen exercise for exercise??? Used to be that when cold weather and shorter days hit, I would rely on some tape/dvd or online video to get in some exercise in the comfort of my living room. This only keeps me entertained on occasion though…

Have a best friend and a cousin (traveling from the south of France to participate) running the Chicago Marathon this weekend - just signed up to “watch them” via online tracking. Anyone know someone running???

MOWC - didn’t they have a problem with shipping the bikes last year too? I’m curious — does TSA or United have to pay for broken or missing items?

If anyone knows of a great yoga DVD, I’d love to know. D2 could really use one on stress days where she doesn’t have flexibility in her schedule to make a class, but could do it at home.

What a horrible day MOWC! I hope the tri bike is easy to fix.

Thanks all. I think the tri bike will be fixed OK. Last year Unitef finally paid after a lawyer ( not me) letter. They are trying to put it off on TSA this year. We’ll see. I am pretty sure the airline is on the hook under the law.
We have our luggage! Our competitor is off swimming the course. All is well.

Nighmare is the best description of your travel day, MOWC. Glad to hear things are looking up.

Worked out with my trainer today for an hour. Again, lots of core work plus work with kettle bells. Did box jumps and planks. I’m surprised because I’m pretty strong and have no trouble with regular planks. Today, I realized that I’ve gotten strong because the trainer had me doing planks where I tapped my shoulder with one hand and then the other–which made it much harder because you’re basically doing one-handed planks for a few seconds. Not sure I could have done those 2 months ago, but I do 2 sets of 20 today and then held a plank for 30 seconds.

Also went on a 2 mile walk with my D. She doesn’t have a performance tonight so she’s going to yoga. I’m trying to decide if I should go with her. It’s really nice to have someone around who’s willing to get involved in fitness activities and who’ll go with you. I’ll be sad when she finishes her play and goes back to Philly.

“Have a best friend and a cousin (traveling from the south of France to participate) running the Chicago Marathon this weekend - just signed up to “watch them” via online tracking. Anyone know someone running???”

I have a coworker who is running her first Chicago marathon, so we’re all supporting her. Esp in the carbo-loading!!

Cool beans PG! I am excited for them but have not one ounce of envy!!! Extremely proud of them though. :)

Hey MOWC, I believe my favorite athlete of all time and friend of the family (not really, but we did meet him, stay in the same hotel with him and have a small chat with him in his hotel room) Apolo Ohno is competing as a celebrity Ironman - if you get a glimpse, swoon for me!!! Loved watching him compete live and on the screen!
