sabaray, thanks! We should be ok. Not too wet here, strangely.

Had 20 min to kill. Ran 2 speedy Precor miles with about 2 1/2 minutes to change clothes. phew.

We moved recently so I’m a little farther south now. We’re close enough I can still visit all my old haunts if I want. It’s just a bit of a trek.

4.8 miles this morning. I was pleasantly surprised when my interval timer signaled I was finished – I was thinking I had at least 2 sets remaining! (So much better this way than the opposite – me wishing/hoping I’m finished, only to discover I have several sets left.)

Glad you PCN folks are OK! The presents I hauled to the law firm are wrapped, I drank wine and then came home and ran a couple more miles to get my daily total for the stupid annual mileage goal. I’m still 23 miles behind the pace bunny, but gaining. Unfortunately, H has a cold (we rarely get sick) and I feel like I have a tiny bit of one. That could put the skids on this deal.

Heated power yoga on Wed. and work with trainer today. Core stuff, free weights–also used the leg press and chest press machines. Did 20 box jumps–still pleased with myself that I mastered those this summer. Finished training session with 3 miles on the tread mill.

Drown your bugs in Vitamin C and fermented beverage antiseptic, MOfWC! Fingers crossed the bug will spare you. So you have 23 miles to catch up… in 20 days. I say go for it! It is just tiny bit more than a mile extra a day. Even BB can do it! ;)

Thanks, Bunsen. Mine is coming on VERY slowly, so maybe I’ll be OK. I never thought I would say this about 22 degrees, but this morning was BEAUTIFUL for running. I wore the full zip Lulu puff jacket from 2 years ago (I think it’s the best one, really- lots of vent zippers) and the polar fleece tights and I was fine. My hands actually got too sweaty. Not a bit of wind and it was clear- for the first time in weeks! It was just so pretty and calm. 3.2 miles done.

We’ll make a winter-lover of you yet, MomWC ;)

Don’t hold your breath! I spent many, many years up north and the 5 years in Chicago did me in. If I’m going to endure winter, it needs to have bright sun, mountains and ski slopes!

Energetically kneaded bread this morning for 10 min.! That’s good for the arms & shoulders, right? :)

Edit: We’re having a cold but sunny day here, and that’s rare. I will definitely go out for a walk & some vitamin D!

Cardio + weights this morning. We finally have some sunshine here today – and perhaps the happiest about that is our puppy! She needs lots of exercise, but the past 3 days have been much too wet for anything more than quick trips outside. If this hold until tomorrow, I’ll try to get in a run around the local reservoir.

H had his checkup yesterday. He had significant improvement in his HDL but total cholesterol and triglycerides are still very high. So, he is starting a statin. He really hasn’t made the radical diet changes that would help - I can monitor what’s available and what he eats at home, but at work, all bets are off. Doc didn’t seem to think starting the statin would sentence him to a lifetime of it if he committed to the diet and really upped his exercise. I seem to recall Bill Clinton having good success with a vegan diet after his heart surgery, and H actually thought it would be easier for him to just eat a vegetarian diet than try to keep track of what he could and could not eat and in what quantities and frequencies.

I don’t mind cold so much but I do mind wind. The bread workout sounds like one I’d like, Momannoyed!

Went for a ride and was nearly hit by a car while in a protected crosswalk with flashing lights which orders traffic to yield to those in the crosswalk. The driver was a white haired woman who had a very pleasant smile on her face who didn’t stop and didn’t even appear to know I was RIGHT THERE. She continued on her merry way completely oblivious.

Ugh. SO glad you weren’t hit! That is such a fear of mine with biking!

Me too. I will spend hours on the trainer in from of the TV due to fear of cars.

Me, too, which is why I try to stay on bike dedicated paths only. This was on the Katy trail, which has two street crossings. They are very well marked, and at least have speed bumps before the cars get to the intersections, so at least the chances of the cars going really fast are lower. Of course, any time a car connects with a cyclist it can be a fatal event, no matter the speed.

That woman has no business driving. She looked she was in a happy trance.

So thankful you are here to tell us you didn’t get hit!!!

Wow, you know you’re getting old when you almost hurt yourself doing warm ups! I rolled my ankle doing lateral squats in the basement! :)

Knock on wood, I think I’ve managed to strengthen my ankles over time and, even though I rolled the ankle, no stabbing pain, no sprain.

Good solid workout. I have finally started to figure out the whole breathing thing. Makes sets a lot easier without almost holding my breath! DB front squats were really good today. Probably time to increase the weight again, but that assumes that I can actually get heavier DBs up to my shoulders! :)

Hope your ankle is OK! Yeah- we’re getting old!

I’m excited that I’m going to get to run with my daughter in the morning because she is doing Maffetone low heart rate and is slow enough with that to run with me! It will even be slow for me, which is perfect. We are planning 8 miles.

Running with D sounds great! :)

Rest day for me. Walked 2 miles, mostly iphill. Now I’m off to taste some vino! That’s quite a wild way to spend the Friday night by geezerdom standards. Hope to be able to run a much longer distance tomorrow to burn off anything unhealthy I manage to consume during tonight’s dinner.
