Yeah, I didn’t think they’d work for a class, but I did think they were pretty!

Wow, pretty mats!

The Lulu store was mobbed yesterday. Quite a few guys were buying generic stuff like yoga mats, gloves, and socks. Pre-last minute gift shopping! When I was done with my shopping, Mr B and I met for a sushi happy hour and then upon Mr. B’s suggestion walked back to the mall and got SIL some Lulu tees as well. Mr B is now a hard-core fan of Lulu’s non-stinky tees! Between my downtown dash and suburban mall walk, I think I walked about 4 miles last night!

MOfWC, love the tree in your avatar! The red tractor is very festive, too. :)

Thanks! Obviously, it’s not my house!

Thanks for the push guys - I wasn’t in the mood to go out - you know, all toasty and baking warm in the house - but I read this thread and got my behind out there and it felt GREAT! Thanks for your virtual you-didn’t-even-know-it push to get out!!!

H was a good sport today and came Christmas shopping - nothing like waiting until the last minute. Went to the official Lulu store and it was great. Also hit Athleta - I selected a few items at each store that I would like and told the associate, I’m going outside and my husband is going to pick some Christmas gifts for me from these items! He came out with big bags from each store. I’m going to have to try that more often!
I was also reminded today of how much I love Nordstrom. So today is going to have to count as a rest day for me as I am exhausted and still fighting off either a cold or the flu, not sure which. Debating doing a NY Eve 5k - then I’ll have run a 5k, 10k, half and full this year - not a big deal to most of you, I’m sure, but huge for me!

@MichaelnKat - have you seen the new Peleton app? Spin workouts live or on demand? It’s free right now for a limited time while they roll it out.

Deborah, those are some attractive yoga mats, for sure! I think I should have one of those for my house, instead of the purple one I own. Thank you for the links. I think I’m just going with a basic (no frills, but less $$ and still highly rated) mat by Aurorae. I ordered a strap to carry it too. Hopefully she’ll have time to use it regularly!

H and I took another 3 mile walk this evening–70 degrees, beautiful sunset, and Christmas lights clicking on all around. We received a tasty smoked turkey breast from Neuske’s as a gift, so I heated that up for dinner. So good!

Sabaray, I’m familiar with the Peleton bikes and live streaming features which are offered with them but did not know about the app. I wonder what the cost will be after the initial offering. It’s amazing just how dramatic the technological changes have been in the last 5 years.

I really wanted to methylate my DNA tonight, but my friends invited us for dinner. Now my stomach is too full for any meaningful exercise.
Will do free weights only.

Did my double yesterday, 1 1/2 hr resistance training, 1 hr of wattage indoor cycling intervals. About to do another hour of indoor cycling and 30 minutes of core, after which I will be ready for an afternoon of sweet potato latkes debauchery lol!

“Debating doing a NY Eve 5k - then I’ll have run a 5k, 10k, half and full this year - not a big deal to most of you, I’m sure, but huge for me!”

Hugely impressive to me, fwiw!!

Wow, Deborah - those are beautiful! Mine is just a boring black!

I don’t know anything about yoga, but I believe that these Airex mats are the world’s best exercise/yoga mats:

http://www.amazon.com/SPRI-Airex-Coronella-Exercise-0-6-Inch/dp/B008DSJJ9Y

That’s the 5/8 thick one. I’ve used mine for every workout for three years, including taking it outside for burpees on an asphalt parking lot.

They also make a 3/8 inch version, for “pilates”, which might make more sense for carrying around:

http://www.amazon.com/SPRI-Airex-Pilates-Purple-0-3-Inch/dp/B008DSJN4A

The only downside is that they are fairly heavy: dense closed-cell foam. German-made, I think. they are unlike any exercise mat I’ve ever seen. They don’t come with straps, but amazon prime sells those separately.

Put bows and ribbons on the packages under the tree last night while watching football. LIl’ Bubba Jr had removed a bow, killed it, and carried it up the stairs within 30 minutes. Sigh…

Picking up daughter at the airport in a few minutes. Exercise schedule is shot.

Love those mats, Deborah! The ones I use for hot yoga are terry cloth (like big towels) with a backing. They are perfect for hot yoga since then you don’t need a towel on top of the mat that slips around.

My Ragdoll kitten is chewing on Baby Jesus in the creche.

6 difficult, slow miles this morning. My legs are tired. I am closing in on the pace bunny, but I really need a “rest” day so might let him gain some tomorrow and just do 2 miles or so. It was nice out, though- sunny again and 32.

sabaray- go for the 5K.

I’m going to have to. This may never happen again.

I just ran a report on RunningAhead to see what I’ve raced this year. I started the year with the Hot Chocolate 15K.
So- 1 15K, 3 Half Marathons 1 10K, 3 5Ks and 1 6K. Not bad for being injured for 8 weeks.

Airex products are great, very pricey but very durable. If you buy one, you’ll spend more upfront but it will last a long time. Unfortunately, they are very tough to find at local retailers and exercise mats can be such a “personal feel” thing that I hesitate to buy them sight unseen. Airex also makes a 3 inch thick pad that can add a real stability challenge to 1 legged exercises for those that are not ready for a Bosu.

MOWC, you should feel great about your “comeback”! You had a rough couple of months but your perseverance is inspiring.

Sabaray, do the 5K, what a great way to welcome in the NewYear!

LLBean experts, I need some info. I’m ordering one more women’s fleece hoodie and there are too many choices: trail modal fleece, wind challenger fleece, polartec power stretch, and polartec microgrid. Any thoughts about what is really the difference between these?
